Question 1

Is there a USB somewhere on the keyboard? Can't see one in the pictures. (example: turtle beach headphones require u to plug in a usb for power)

Unfortunately, no, there isn't a USB for mic hookup on the keyboard. Although the keyboard it self can control the volume even when the headset itself is directly plugged into the computer. Only down side I have found is when the computer goes to sleep the keyboard turns off and you have to reset to get it to work again.

It does not. It only has a headphone and microphone port.

Can this work on a macbookpro laptop? Even without the cool gaming software?

To the best of my knowledge it does from what I've looked up via support. There were a couple of people with macbooks (didn't say laptop vs desktop) that said it worked fine. I don't have a Mac (of any type yet) so I can't answer from my own knowledge.

How does the width of the G510s compare to that of the G11?
It seems like EVERY website that has dimensions for this thing has a completely different way of measuring...
I have a G11 and it *barely* fits on my kb tray.

To be honest it might be a few cm shorter and without the palm rest I would say I is smaller width. The palm rest is little big but over all I would say the keyboard (510s) is slightly smaller then the G11 and it also recognizes more games too (bonus)

Thanks for the answers regarding compatibility with Windows 8.1. Has anybody tried using the F2 key to get into the computer settings (BIOS, etc ) or F12 key to access boot up options for the computer.  A friend that owned and returned a G510s said he was not able use F2 to get into computer setting using Windows 8.1. However, the F2 key worked in Windows 8.  Strange!! Has anybody had this problem with the F2 and F12 keys?

I think that is user error to be honest. Your system boots to bios long before Windows even loads so the Windows version should make no difference. The system may use an alternate F-Key to enter the Bios configuration. Some systems use F11.

Question 7

It appears that there are Logitech keyboard compatibility issues using Windows 8.1. What about the G510s?  What is the compatibility status using Windows 8.1?  The Logitech website doesn't even indicate that the G510s is compatible with Windows 8! (It does show the G510 as compatible with Windows 8).  Can anyone answer this?

I installed G510Ss on two Windows 8 machines without any problems - one of the computers is used primarily for gaming (World of Warcraft mainly) and the other for the audio plug-ins. Both computers work well, but do have the issues of waking up from sleep as reported by others - keeping the keyboard in the default profile during sleep keeps you from having to reboot the keyboard after coming out of sleep. I have upgraded the audio plug-in computer to Windows 8.1 and everything remained working. I haven't upgraded the gaming computer to 8.1 yet (my son is very protective of his iTunes library and fights me on upgrades), but I saw nothing in the other upgrade that would lead me to believe that it wouldn't work - the set up keyboard colors stayed and the default profile stayed, etc.

Does the Mic/Headphone jacks use the sound card installed or does the keyboard actually pull up as another sound card device?

Its a bypass and pulls up as another sound device only when something is plugged in.

Can the keys be replaced with something like this  if they become damaged?

No they cannot. This is NOT a mechanical keyboard. The specs say specifically it is not one, and I've bought 2 of them and can confirm that it is not mechanical myself. It does have 6 key anti-ghosting tho, but you aren't going to be able to pop off the key caps and put some new ones on like you would with a mechanical.

Is this Logitech G510s compatible to Mac OS X  10.9.5 ? I plan to play World of Warcraft with it.
