Is this keyboard backlit?

No it is not backlit, there are a few lights around the edges such as logo and key function lights but no backlit LEDs.

Question 2

Can you move the gaming keypads around? I really need the rounded-key gamepad on the right side instead of the left, and I can't tell how modular it really is.

I have this keyboard and I don't think you can. I'm sure with some engineering you could. It does use a little micro chip to detect which keyboard is being used it uses a rubber mat to hit the right keys. It also has 2 circuit panels. One for the typical keyboard and the other for the gaming setup.  I personally use the typical setup. But still I don't think you can switch it to the right side but it does come with software that you can use to setup the keyboard how you want.

Is this Mac compatible?

I'm not sure about Mac compatible or not, I do know all the software on this board is Windows designed with no mention of Mac's at all.I don't use the software , I just love the Gaming location of the butterfly lefthand controls which makes this type of board a lot better for fast action gaming such as online mmorpgs or shooters. I just use it as the basic controls, if a standard pc type of keyboard will work with your Mac the basic actions of this board I would think should work as well, Just not the softwear programmable parts.I also have 4 of the Steelseries ( MERC ) keyboards which is the Big brother flagship of this type of board design which I consider the most awesome gaming board ever made and I've tried a lot of others in the past.I hope this info helps you a little. Check steelseries website out to see if any of their softwear is Mac compatible.
