I know this CAN be used with a mac, but do the function keys operate properly on a mac? Are there any features sacrificed when using this with mac?

I am actually using this on a PC, but using a very similar keyboard by MS on a mac. The function/option/ctrl keys will need to be adjusted in the setting on your mac, but otherwise it functions decent. I don't have access to play/eject on the keyboard.

how do i get a left handed mouse wtith this?

You need to look elsewhere for the left handed mouse. Logictech makes one called the M560. Other brands Roccat, Goldtouch and Microsoft. The keyboard is awesome especially if you have carpel-tunnel syndrome. Good luck.
