When you click the keys does it make the metal mechanical sound ?

No so much an metal sound, but it does have noticeable hollow hard plastic clicking sound. Keyboard response is firm and similar to most keyboards of this type. If you are gaming and hitting the keys hard and fast it is loud. I chose this for the on/off switch control of the backlit. The orange color is just right for typing in the dark, but not so bright to be distracting.
