Can I use this on the new Toshiba C55-A 5245 laptop that I'm buying?

I dont think that this mouse will work with your laptop. Most newer laptops do not have PS/2 connections you want to get a mouse that has a USB connection. Your laptop has USB 2.0 and 3.0 so most USB wired mouses should work on your system.Good luck

how long is the cord??

This has a 1.5 meter cord. It also has the older round style end that until I just opened the box didn't know. (So I can't use it)
