Question 1

How's the software for this mouse? Any good?

The software does everything I could think of.

Mapping any key to any button, media functions (play, pause, next, ...), simple functions (copy, select all, paste, close window, ...), macros (as well as a macro record and play button), key combos, change DPI on the fly, DPI + or - assignments.

Software doesn't hook in every time you run it so it launches on boot, it "remembers" 2 active profiles (which you can assign a key to switch on the mouse), and you can save/load countless other profiles externally on file.

Also you can change acceleration, mouse point speed, polling rate, scroll speed, double click speed, 4 DPI's, and the color and pulsing of the light, all in a really simple GUI.

Software is really comprehensive and simple.

Question 2

Where is the advertised 10th button? I only count 9 buttons in the pictures. The photo of the box even says '9' programmable buttons. Yet, the product page says 10 buttons. What's up with that?

There is technically a button on the bottom of the mouse that is used for set up purposes. Good catch though. I don't think they should be counting that button. They may be referring to the scroll wheel as two buttons though since it can be used for scrolling and middle mouse. But yeah you're counting the actual functional buttons correctly.

Question 3

What is the difference between this and the Utech/Anker one? Both advertise the same features, look similar, and have a logo light. The only noticeable difference is the Rosewill one glows red and the others glow blue.

Only assume they're manufactured in the same factory, except when it comes to the logo mark.

Personally I don't think there is any difference in the hardware. Rosewill claims their mouse is 8200 DPI but UtechSmart and Anker both claim only 8000. Not sure I believe Rosewill on that claim. A key difference is warranty period. Rosewill has 1 year on parts, no labor warranty. UtechSmart has a 2 year parts and labor warranty and Anker has a full 18 month warranty on their products. IMO Anker probably has the best support over UtechSmart and Rosewill.

Question 4

Is there a user manual we can download?
Can the buttons be programmed to do a specific sequence of keystrokes?  Can all the buttons be reprogrammed?

Search for RGM-1000 in the search field on the top right of the site.

The mouse does support macros for specific keystrokes sequences. All the buttons can be programmed.

Question 5

Any way to assign mouse button 4, 5, etc to the side buttons?  OR can it only do keyboard keys?

Question 6

Are all nine programmable, or are some reserved for only a certain or certain functions?

Three of the buttons are for scroll, record, and mouse sensitivity. If you reassign those I'm not sure how well it would function.
I actually have trouble with the one thing I wanted it for which was for gaming. The game is World of Warcraft in case that helps anyone.
