Pros: Good fit/feel, decent sound, great looks
Cons: All plastic in spite of appearance, cord is short, more bass than I expected, ear cups only swivel in one direction and are rather stiff
Overall Review: These headphones "LOOK" cool and have decent sound. The cord could be longer but, since it is detachable you could always get a longer one if desired. The sound could be more balanced when it comes to the tonal range (it is rather heavy on the bass end even with audio that isn't bass heavy). DON'T BE FOOLED BY APPEARANCES! The part of the headband that holds the ear-cups is PLASTIC. Part of the reason I went with the more expensive RWH-001 over the RWH-002 (which has the same drivers and over-all specs) is that I "THOUGHT" these would be a bit more sturdy with metal parts to the headband. However, it was clear upon initial examination that the "chrome" parts are just chrome colored plastic. I also liked that the ear pieces on the RWH-001 swivel which I thought would be good for storage if I use these outside of my home. The swiveling parts are rather stiff and really only move in one direction. Based on reviews I had read before making my purchase, I expected the headband to be smaller and tighter than it turned out to be. I have a larger than average head so, a tight fit could be uncomfortable with prolonged use. However, the fit is not as tight as I expected based on what I had seen. The headband is actually much larger than I expected. I do not need to adjust it to a larger size to use the headphones (which I typically need to do when trying a pair of headphones that are set to the smallest size. As for the ear-cups, they fit over my ears nicely. I was not sure if they would fit around my ear (meaning my ear sitting within the "well" of the padding) or if the padding end up on top of my ears. This will vary for each person depending on the size and shape of their ears. I am sure for some the padded part may rest on top of their ears which could potentially be uncomfortable...especially if using the headphones for long periods. Unless you absolutely need the ear-cups to swivel you may want to save some money by going with the RWH-002 which, from what I have gathered, have the same drivers and over-all specs. The RWH-002 has round ear-cups which could mean more trouble getting the headphones to sit comfortably over your ears. The bottom line: there are better headphones available but, for the price you are unlikely to find a pair with wooden ear-cups...other than the RWH-002 which are essentially the same as these but with a few minor (mostly cosmetic) differences.
