Do you have to install it immediately? my antivirus does not expire for 4 mo.

No, You don't have to install it immediately.  The product key inside the box or obtained from a download will work whenever you decide to install it.  I have used 1-year old product keys without ever having a problem and getting the full 1-Year subscription as of the install of the 1st device you activate.  It is best to install from inside your Norton Account as that will give you view of any active subscriptions.  Also, if you do decide to install now, then Norton will automatically detect your existing subscription and add 12 months to the end of your current subscription so that you would not loose any existing paid subscription period.

Is this product only good for 1 year, after that it uses a credit card to renew is this correct?

Yes, that is correct. However, at the end of the year you can always decide to discontinue the service and go to another provider. What you would need to do is to change the auto renew just before (about 14-30 days prior to the service expiration date.

I've been using Norton products for many years, using the auto renewal function. Occasionally Norton stops supporting a particular product.  When I say Norton stops supporting the product I don't mean that they no longer update the virus definitions. The product continues to function. However, Norton no longer adds new elements to the old product.

When that has happened to the Norton product I was using, I've stopped the auto renewal just prior to the expiration date & purchased the newer Norton product.

NOTE: I've been using the Norton 360 Premium product for 2.5 months now. I have found it to an excellent product worthy of the Norton label.

Is the VPN also covered for the first year without any additional cost  till the first year has passed?

Yes, the VPN comes included with Norton 360. When you install Norton 360 you are presented with several additional options, one is activating the VPN and it is always active once you activate it. I have yet found any way to control it but I just installed Norton 360 today.

this serves to activate worldwide?

In order for the product to be fully supported globally, you would need to purchase the product from the support agent in your country and see if you can activate it, if not you can get your money back from Norton. But I'm not sure why your wanting to purchase Norton 360 when this product is being discontinued?

The internet says that Norton 360 was DISCONTINUED in 2014...so what exactly are we being offered here?  This product doesn't appear on Nortons website

The "Original" Norton 360 was discontinued in 2014.  Last year the "New" Norton 360 (powered by LifeLock) was released and is still in use today (06/30/2020).  Just be sure that the one you purchase says that it's "Powered by LifeLock"on the package.
