Inexpensive and reliable wifi router

Pros: Cheap, reliable, good distance, features loaded firmware, and easy to install

Cons: Limited to 10/100mb Lan speed while hard wired.

Other Thoughts: I would highlyrecommend to any budget user

This product became a dad after a year

Pros: When it worked, this router provided effective Internet to multiple devices.

Cons: Several months after we started using this router, it needed periodic - weekly and sometimes daily - power cycling. As we creep past the year mark, it has become incredibly unreliable.

Other Thoughts: I had a great deal of respect for Netgear products, but this device is chipping away at this confidence.

Dying after 2 years

Pros: Initially had great service. 5 GHz in a distant room at 5-600 Mbps and 2.4 GHz @ 150 Mbps

Cons: I was suspicious of Netgears's support being limited to 90 days. It turns out the product was not quality. 2.4 GHz is dead at 2 years and 5 GHz is running at 25% of its initial speed

Very good router

Pros: Good range. Good speed. Numerous setup options.

Cons: The downloadable software, Netgear Genie, is somewhat buggy. On the home page, it shows my wifi as not enabled. However, on the Netgear website it shows that it is enabled. All my devices are connected, so I am not sure why the Genie program doesn't recognize it. Other than this incongruity between the website and the Genie, it seems to be working fine.

Not Bad

Pros: Has been a good, steady, reliable router for my home uses. Very easy to set up.

Cons: The 2.4 GHz band seems to work nicely, I can get a signal all the way out in the garage. The 5 GHz is a bit disappointing, I barely get a signal no more than 10 feet away from the router. In truth, I don't use 5 GHz much anyway, but then again, I suppose I would use it more often if the signal actually had some range to it.

Other Thoughts: Bout it in May 2014. Three laptops on Wi-Fi as well as a few phones in the household (though I rarely use mine on Wi-Fi), a PS3, and my PC hard-wired RJ45. Can't really complain, it does what I need it to do, never get signal drops or lag that I've noticed.

Works but SLOW

Pros: Works and does not need to be rebooted

Cons: No matter what settings I try my laptop connects at 45Mbps even though it supports AC. If I take it to my local coffee shop it connects at 144Mbps and at work at 144Mbs. I tried moving my laptop next to the router and still connects at only 45Mbs. Very disappointed with netgear. If i was not past my warranty I would return this bad lemon but I waited to long to let it annoy me.

Stay away from R6100

Pros: Easy setup. Small. Fast. Nice range.

Cons: Stay away from R6100. Mine AP R6100 is almost dead after 10 month of using. I have to reboot it every 1-8 hours, because of freezes. looks like it is on a HW side.

Other Thoughts: Hi, I have more than 7 years of expirene in radio testing projects. I had a lot background with cheap and very expensive WiFi APs and routers including enterprise types of Cisco and Meru. The r6100 has a short life. Looks like hardware has started to die (usually it happened after 3 year).

Love Netgear routers but this ones are junk

Pros: Easy to setup and flexible to configure. The software allows to block unwanted domains and 'services' to keep kids save and advertising out.

Cons: We bought two of them, one from Newegg. Both ran hot, had a poor range under 11ac and no advantage for 11b/g/n networks compared to other routers from Netgear and other brands.
Both died after about a year. The latter is not really a con because I was happy when they died.

Other Thoughts: We run some 10+ routers from Netgear WNR612 to R7000/7100 and other brands for many years and, in general, all are very stable though I prefer
Netgear because their interface.
