Is it silent, or does it have a noisy fan?

My switch is currently not used, but I don't remember hearing any air flow out of it. I jut checked the switch's datasheet, and it says that it doesn't have a fan.

can you turn off the led lights?

To my knowledge, there are no config settings for this device, it is a simple switch.  There are activity lights on the front, and connection plus activity lights on the back (with the cable ports).

Does this switch support vlan tags?

I don’t know, I’ve never done anything like that. The documentation that comes with it is very sparse, a quick start guide that basically says plug it in. It does say you can get technical support at the linksys site  , I’d check with them.

Been a while since I bought a switch - I don't see a port labeled "uplink" - does this support uplink?  Basically, I was to use this in the entertainment center to plug in all of my networkable components, and then uplink with a single cable back to the router in the office.

That is exactly what I am doing.  My receiver, 4k tv, blu-ray, and a desktop computer for gaming are plugged into the device.  I used one of the input/outputs to run to a power line adapter that uses the house wiring to connect to a modem at the other end of the house.  The system works great even when viewing Netflix 4k.

To answer your question:  I believe you can use any of the inputs/outputs as the uplink.

The Product Data Sheet images show that the RJ-45 Jacks and the power cord all connect on the rear. Is that correct? I am looking for one for a desk that has connectors all on the rear and lights on the front.

The power connects to the rear. The RJ-45 all connect to the front.

Does it support global voltage?Can i use it outside USA?

Not sure.  Would think it would if you have a voltage regulator and a plug adapter.  It will not change voltage as is from 110 to 220.

Question 7

The Product Data Sheet shows images that suggest the power and RJ-45 jacks are on the rear of the unit and LED indicators on the front. I'm looking for this type of switch for a desk and dont want connectors on the front side. Can any one confirm this information?

The LED indicators and RJ-45 ports are all on the front side, while power is alone on the back.

im using 2 of these switches off off a netgear nighthawk 3200ac.  from what I see the 2 ports that are connected to these switches are running in amber when my buds says would be 100 mbits mode.  anyone can explain why its amber/100 mbits rather than white/1000 mbits?  this other 2 ports which is connected to my main pc and a network printer are both white/1000 mbits.  thanks
