The SonicWall SWS14-24 is a 24-port Gigabit Layer 2 managed network switch built for small and midsize businesses and SonicWall SD-Branch deployments. It provides 24 Gigabit copper RJ45 ports plus 4 SFP+ ports (28 interfaces in total) and 128 Gbps of switching capacity in a compact, fanless 1U rackmount chassis. It is a non-PoE model.
Who is it best for?
It suits offices, schools, retail stores, and branch locations that need many wired Gigabit connections with 10G-capable uplinks next to a SonicWall next-generation firewall. If you need to power access points, VoIP phones, or IP cameras over the switch, choose the PoE version, the SWS14-24FPOE (802.3af/at, 410W PoE budget). For larger deployments, the SWS14-48 offers 48 ports and 176 Gbps.
What ports and performance does it have?
24 x 10/100/1000 RJ45 ports and 4 x 1G/10G SFP+ ports for uplinks, 512MB memory, 128MB flash, 1.5M packet buffer, a 32K MAC address table, and 4,096 VLANs, with one RJ-45 serial console port. Jumbo frames, auto-negotiation, MDI/MDIX auto-crossover, flow control, and cable diagnostics are supported.
How is it managed?
The switch is managed from a SonicWall firewall or through SonicWall Wireless Network Manager (WNM), which is available with an additional license, using Zero-Touch Deployment, switch auto-discovery, daisy chaining via firewalls, centralized VLAN configuration, SNMP monitoring, syslog collection, and backup and restore of switch configurations. Standalone web GUI, CLI, and SSH are also available. Firewall features such as IPS, Gateway Anti-Virus, Application Control, and Botnet filtering are enforced on the management firewall.
What Layer 2 and security features are included?
802.1X port-based authentication with guest and fallback VLAN, MAC authentication bypass (MAB) for cameras, printers, and IoT devices, DHCP snooping, IP/MAC ACLs, storm control, static and dynamic LAG, STP, RSTP, and MSTP, LLDP/MED, IGMP snooping, voice VLAN, static routing, and QoS based on 802.1p and IP TOS/DSCP priority queuing.
