Laptop is locked up with a password I can't remember...how can I open it.....??

can you play minecraft on it and download mods on it?

For sure, I've been able to play several mods such as FTB, Tekkit, Hexxit, and Attack of the B-Team. For shader mods, you're going to have a tough time if you don't upgrade the RAM. I usually get 50-100 fps (mods+terrain effects) using this laptop on high-performance and it's extremely playable. Just don't throw everything at it if you don't have the RAM.

Can this laptop run Minecraft?

Yeah, easily. Maybe not a high-quality mod but minecraft alone it should run fine. I can run Left 4 Dead 2 on low-medium and get about 30FPS and League of Legends gets about 35fps on low. Minecraft should still be fine, though.
