No book case, just a black sleeve for storing it and wall/usb charger.  I did also purchase Bundle Monster 11in1 Accessories Set for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 - It came with a Case, Stylus, Wall + Car Charger, USB Cords, and earbud headset.  I am very happy with the purchase, good luck shopping

Is the battery life at or close to factory specifications after being referbished?

No idea.  I only use mine for web browsing and/or demonstrating stuff to customers.  My battery lasts all day easily.  battery lasts for a week or so if tablet is unused.   I'm very happy with this purchase  Whatever they refurbished on this one was successful!
Oddly, the factory charger is fairly fast, but any other charger or cord is dreadfully slow.

Does this tablet have a micro-SD slot for memory expansion?

Yes, it has a slot for memory expansion which is why I only got the 16gb tablet instead of paying the extra money for the 32gb tablet. That's the only difference between the 16gb and 32gb, if the 32gb would have offered more features I might have ordered differently, but it doesn't.

It's mostly just for drawing. If you're referring to the kick stand, yes it can be positioned to have the display be almost vertical or as far down to be almost flat on a table when you adjust it.
