For the price this has been a good tablet, not an Ipad but a good Tablet. I purchased this when my ipad took a dive. I am waiting on the new ipads to come out and then it will be my wifes home tablet. Very happy with it and zero complaints.

No it does not. Battery is built in. Charges with a micro usb port.

No it doesn't. There is a micro usb port, so if you found a Samsung micro usb to HDMI adapter that might work.

I've found that any network connected devices or wireless direct devices that have all share work much better than an HDMI cable.

Is the Android version on this (KitKat) able to be updated to Lollipop?

Hard to tell.  Its not on the update list but it really doesn't matter.  Lollipop is a nice upgrade for phones but insignificant for tablets.  You will want to buy a new cool device before its irrelevant.  However look at the new Nexus 9

Is this tablet a more current Galaxy which is replacing the Tab 3?  Why is the cpu speed slower than the Galaxy Tab 3?

It does look like you're right about the processor running at a lower clock frequency than the Tab 3, but the Tab 3 was only a dual core system. What this means is that instead of simply being limited to the work a single core could do (1 executing thread/processing time slice) the Tab 3 can work on 2 executing threads, and the Tab 4 (Quad Core) can work on 4 executing threads.)

So, while the clock frequency is lower under a heavy load the Tab 4 should outperform the Tab 3 because it can do more concurrently. I hope this helps answer your question.

I'm not sure what Newegg S was answering, but this device does have a Mini USB Port on the bottom and comes with a USB to Mini-USB Data/Charging Cable. It can run the ADB Bridge for debugging apps on a computer and deploying them.

It can plug in to a standard USB Port on your computer with the proper cable and shows up under Windows 8 (and XP/Vista/7 I'm assuming.)

Just want to make sure I can use this to make Google Hangout video calls, i.e. it has a useable microphone?

yeah it has a mic i dont use hangouts though but you can voice search and record video with audio i use it for music tabs and such so i dont really record much but i tested it and yes it picks up voice so im sure you can make video calls and such  hope that helps
