Awesome little power house 10/19/2009 9:15:08 PM

Pros: Have win7 32 and xp black running on this little beast, with 1gb, haven't voided my warranty just yet for the upgrade to two gbs just for the simple fact that it runs these systems just fine. From Bios to functional in xp black its about 1m and 7 its about 1m25s. If you need something for school for word processing and what not look no further. No dvd drive really isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, you can create images of dvd's using power iso and do just about everything through that if you have another computer of course. I booted win7 from a usb to get it on it very simple stuff.

Cons: Webcam has 0 low light function at all...if its dark in ur room ur outta luck cause the screen isn't enough to brighten you up.
The built in MSI software is horrible, just uninstall it and or format both OS's like me lol.

Overall Review: Working on hackintoshing this computer aswell, seems I'll need access to another mac..which I don't have atm but I've read these are fully compatible for snow leopard minus the wireless I think..which you can buy a 12 dollar expansion card slot wireless adapter from newegg now days :P

Decent secondary computer 10/11/2009 8:54:45 AM

Pros: Compact and lightweight; fairly powerful; RAM is 667 MHz instead of the typical 533; easy overclocking in the BIOS

Cons: no documentation; lack of hardware consistency (see below); lack of options on restore DVD (single partition or 20 GB, 30 GB, or 40 GB boot partition with the rest being a secondary - no disk utility with formatting options as on the Windows retail discs); no wireless drivers on the restore DVD (turns out this is because there are 3 different wireless cards - see below)

Overall Review: This is a great supplement to a desktop if you also need something to take with you - it's by no means powerful enough or high resolution enough to be a primary computer.

My biggest gripe is the lack of consistency (and accurate information) among the different versions. For instance: (1) MSI's website says they all have 533 MHz RAM, but most forums have indicated that this one has 667. (Sure enough, Windows XP recognizes it as 667.) (2) They all share the same case - this model doesn't have bluetooth, but it's got an indicator light for it anyway. (3) Within this model (the -641US), there are 3 different wireless cards and no way to tell in advance which one you're getting. The Ralink and Realtek cards have drivers available for Windows XP, Vista, 7 (32 and 64 bit), and even Linux and Mac OS X should you decide to go that route. The Atheros has only an XP driver and no info on any updates - guess which one I got. Since I installed the Windows 7 beta, I had to buy a USB wi-fi adapte

Great Netbook 9/29/2009 1:46:15 PM

Pros: This powerful yet portable machine is perfect for on-the-go computing. The keyboard is much bigger than contending Netbooks. The overall slim size and fast yet quite speed make this a perfect choice

Cons: The battery life is only 2 hours, this is because of the 3 cell battery. A 6 or even 9 cell battery can be found with the simple click of the 'google' button

Overall Review: MSi has added the option to overclock the CPU up to 2GHz making this the fastest of the light weight netbooks.

Great Netbook Workhorse 9/26/2009 3:14:49 PM

Pros: Clear display, VERY fast with 2 G Ram. My other laptops will be gathering dust until I find a use for them. Very quiet and have NOT noticed over-heating. Video playback is excellent. Internet browsing seems as fast as my PC.

Cons: Documentation lacking helpful hints, but can be found on many forums. Fn key combos take some getting used to, in order to activate/shut off various functions. Some programs want more than the 600 vert pixels to install.

Overall Review: Ample space (160g) but load with Portable apps (many avail) to keep it fast. I opted for the 3-cell battery to keep unit thinner and will use DC power adapter with 12v batteries when away from AC. Power typists can buy an external USB keyboard. External DVD/CD drives are cheap these days.

MSI U100-641US 9/18/2009 2:53:59 PM

Pros: Very nice overall. Impressive speed for what it is. Very peppy until I loaded all my applications and data.

Cons: Speakers tinny. (Expected); 160GB HD partitioned into 100GB & 60 GB. 60GB has OS; I quickly filled it before moving "My Documents" to larger partition.
HD developed errors after 2 days. (Fixed with Spinrite)
Customer service person was impossible for me to understand. Had to download Synaptic driver for touchpad to disable "tap to click."

Overall Review: MSi should start a "chat" function for help. (Would eliminate the accent problem.)

Amazing Netbook! 9/14/2009 9:24:24 AM

Pros: I t has everything you need in a small compact, sleek, design. From the large keyboard for (for it's size) nearly full size to it's large bright 10" screen. It has wi-fi and bluetooth as well.

Cons: The mouse touchpad doesn't have an off switch and the click buttons can be hard to get used to, so I sugget getting a USB wireless mouse.

Overall Review: Overall this is a great piece of equipment and I suggest you should pick one up if you are in the market.
Oh and by the way you can pick up a 5.5 - 6 hour battery pack on an online auction site for about $50 if you are not satisfied by the stock battery.

Nice little PC 9/12/2009 1:24:41 PM

Pros: Great little computer. I am running Ubuntu netbook remix 9.04 and it runs quite well. Also runs windows XP. I mainly use the computer for browsing, flash, netflix (under windows). Computer also works well using office applications and for listening to music.

Cons: the . , and / keys are very small and not easy to hit until you get used to it. I guess this is just the nature of a small keyboard. Not a great system for anything graphics intensive, so don't expect that. 4/5 stars just because of the keys.

Overall Review: For the money you really get a lot of bang for your buck. I did a quick search online and found that accessories for this computer are pretty cheap too. you can pick up a pleather case for 15-20 bucks. a car adapter for 8-12 dollars. Extra ram is a 15-20 dollar upgrade (although you void your warranty). a 9-cell battery is 50-60 bucks. If you tri boot this system you have an ultraportable windows/linux/osx system.
