Does this one have any scratches, scuffs, worn letter on keys?  Any blemishes on the screen?

Hi Anna, my laptop came to me in pretty good condition. A very slight scratch on the Dell logo (hardly see it) and on the bottom of the laptop a small dent where they opened it up to do some work on it. Other than that it looks great. The screen on my laptop was in great condition. The only con I have is that it is not a small 13" inch computer and its a little heavy than most I tried. So since I ride a bike to most places I go I do notice the weight. BUT, its a great computer to use. Hope that helped.

Question 2

just got this on 12-5.  I have been trying to get the WiFi to work but it doesn't seem to have a WiFi adapter.  I've pushed the WiFi switch on the side both ways and no light comes on.  Am i missing something or does this really not have an adapter?

Mine did yes.  If you know how to go device manager in windows to see if there is one installed.

If there is and a yellow tag is on it.  The drivers did not install correctly.

Since you just got this unit though.  I would tell Newegg it is not working correctly.  Or open up that doc file on the desktop for the reman company phone number to see if they can talk you through it to see if it is not working.

Wi-fi is enabled, it can also be configured along with blue-tooth in the BIOS. I bought this DELL for a roommate and he has been using is solely on wi-fi since I gave it to him.

is there a web cam?

There is no webcam.  What looks like a webcam is an ambient light sensor for screen brightness level.

How is the speed of this computer, can it have an excel type program, graphics, large quantity of fonts, symbols, etc.?

The speed is decent if not overwhelming, the Core 2 Duo was cutting edge just a few years ago and 4 gb of ram really helps, altho Win 7 install is 32 bit not 64.  It should run any MS Office app without problems as long as you don't expect supersonic speed.  The graphics share system memory so it's not really a gaming laptop, but the screen is really nice.  I can easily run MS Word, stream from Netflix, or run a very processor intensive audio app and it doesn't choke at all.  I think it's a great deal, altho it is a little on the heavy side.  Hope this helps.

I read in the Q&A that this laptop is wifi enabled...  I just received mine last night and it does not appear to be.  Is there supposed to be a wifi card or something?  The wifi is not working on mine... Why?

My laptop arrived wifi enabled out of the box. Perhaps one of the settings needs to be adjusted/turned on?

The machine I recently purchased doesn't appear to have a wlan card in it. It certainly doesn't show one in device manager, and the Dell wlan driver install fails with no compatible hardware found. Is it possible the card was removed?

It is possible, they are removable.  We are required to remove the WLAN cards on some of our systems and I am sure the systems we have turned in have been purchased and returned to the system as refurbished.
