Great while it lasted 3/19/2013 5:17:21 AM

Pros: Fast for a netbook
HDMI 720 out is not too bad.
Windows 7 64bit.
Battery lasted a decent amount of time.

Cons: Hard drive took a dive about 10 months after purchasing. I opened it up to replace with another drive and one side of the clip that holds the ribbon into place was broken.
The wireless internet is not as fast as I would like.
The streaming in 720 was also alittle choppy but what would you expect from a netbook.

Overall Review: If the clip would not have broken, I would have loved to continue using this netbook. This was in 2011-2012 so of course there are faster ones now. I bought it for schoolwork so obviously it would not be used for media streaming often.

Pros: Portability, Battery life, Easy to use

Cons: The beep it makes when you plug in or remove charger. I couldn't get it in blue.

Overall Review: I really love this little computer. It's perfect for me being a student since I needed something easy to carry back and forth to class. It does everything I need it to do including Microsoft programs, online video streaming, and web surfing. It worked great out of the box. I deleted a couple programs to free up some space but I definitely recommend this little guy.

Review from a grad student 9/12/2011 7:48:31 AM

Pros: I use this netbook to read papers, read ebooks, run MATLAB, do various other programming tasks (C++, R, Python, etc, no Visual Studio though so far). It runs great for these tasks. Great size, very light and convenient. I love the screen size and battery life as well! The keyboard is decent sized, not too cramped.

Cons: Really mediocre touchpad. Seems to get hot, but maybe that's because I'm in the middle of a heatwave.

Annoyingly stupid beep sound anytime you plug in the AC charger. You can disable it by going to your sound settings and muting all PC speakers (not the laptop speakers).

Overall Review: Overall, this is a great productivity netbook for me. I don't play any video games or do anything graphically or computationally intensive (other than MATLAB), so this is perfect for me. The speakers seem ok? I don't really use this netbook for entertainment at all, so I don't want to comment or sway anyone's opinion.

Great Computer 9/12/2011 4:04:51 AM

Pros: It has full Windows 7 premium 64-bit and all of the features and benefits that entails. It's quick, and I haven't had any compatibility issues. The total setup time took less than 20 minutes out of the box, and it there were only a few bloat programs I had to remove.

The battery life is amazing. I have not put the 7 hours to the test, but I have gotten 5 hours no problem.

The WiFi connection is solid, and videos play flawlessly.

Cons: It makes a loud beeping noise when connecting/disconnecting the power cord when the sound is on.

The speakers are a little too quiet if there is much ambient noise in the room, or a media file has low volume.

Overall Review: I bought this computer for school, and it is perfect for my needs. I won't be using this computer for any gaming, so I don't know how it would fair, but it has no problems with basic multitasking (web browser, word processor, media player, etc).

I would recommend this netbook to anyone who wants a good, basic computer that is highly portable with great battery life.

Great little machine! 9/9/2011 3:03:28 PM

Pros: I really love this machine, great weight and screen is excellent. Very fast for the internet. Good battery life. Keyboard is great for the size.

Cons: you need to buy a mouse, and deactivate the touchpad. I found that when I was typing I would rub the touchpad and my typing would be all over the place. I really don't like touchpad's anyway, and the mouse is so much easier. If I had known how touching the touch pad was, I still would have bought it.

I like it 9/1/2011 10:27:27 AM

Pros: I use it for work. It does what I need but I can wish for faster speed with the same great battery life. With the power setting set to the most aggressive level, I can use this all day on the battery.

Cons: A little sluggish, but the video card (almost) makes up for it.

Respectable little netbook 8/24/2011 1:39:22 PM

Pros: -Small
-Sleek looking, especially with the "ripple" pattern
-Comes with Windows 7 Home instead of Starter
-500GB HDD, large for a netbook
-4GB ram, also great for a netbook
-At least 7 hours of battery life
-Webcam seems to be even better than my other Acer laptop: it's both brighter and more responsive

Cons: -Screen seems to be a minor dust magnet (isn't too bad, though)
-The CPU bottlenecks all the other components. This is where the -1 egg comes in. Because of the CPU, there tends to be some lag when running multiple programs
-As with Acer's other laptops/netbooks, the system doesn't have adequate cooling (using a cooling pad helps tremendously though)
-Also like Acer's other laptops, the speakers are quiet, even at the loudest settings

Overall Review: A few months ago I bought a 15.6" laptop by Acer and was blown away: it was as powerful as laptops made by the bigger companies for about 2/3 the price. For $700 I had a mobile computer that could play AC: Brotherhood on high settings, Crysis 2 without lag, and a whole host of other games. So, since I'm going on a road trip soon and am not driving, I wanted a slightly more portable device which can at least play videos in high resolution, has usb plugs for my hard drive with all my videos, and can browse the internet. Acer delivered all of these with this little netbook. It's portable, can play HD video from my external hd. This little netbook is a great compliment to a more powerful computer which isn't all that portable; this netbook is great for browsing the web, using simple programs (i.e. Word, Skype, IM's), and occasionally watching movies. The only real flaw is the CPU. I wish Acer put a more powerful CPU in and charged a bit more. But, for a netbook, this is a great deal.

A painfully slow Acer laptop 8/21/2011 8:47:25 PM

Pros: Screen size is nice.
Keyboard is a good size.
500GB HDD is good.
I like the touchpad.

Cons: Even with 4GB of RAM this is a slow and lagging computer.
Keystrokes have to catch up, when I open more than 3 windows in google chrome it lags.
Even got BSOD after only 2 days of regular use.
I hooked up a 500GB HDD to the USB port and it wouldn't recognize it, but after 2 or 3 disconnects it finally saw it but when I tried to open a folder that had 100GB in it and it made the windows explorer unresponsive and after about 45 minutes ifinally had to reboot.
Really, really painfully slow at a lot of things. Not hard stuff but regular day-to-day stuff like email and web surfing.
I think the CPU is to blame here, but can't be positive.
I bought this after reading all the stellar reviews but I wish I hadn't because of Newegg's policy I'm stuck with it.
I imagine I could sell it online for a loss. If I get frustrated enough I might.
Save your $$ and buy something better - I wish I had.

Overall Review: Really I can't think of any application that someone could use this for and not get frustrated with the slow response and system lag.
