Pros: Battery life is outstanding (a main reason for my purchase), display is crisp and color is great, wireless works well for me, N and G, ok sound, better than many (adjusting the EQ helps a lot). Touch pad is a great size and has comprehensive adjustments. VLC for movie viewing is working great. Sleeps on/off very fast, hibernate opens very fast. It will hibernate automatically if in sleep for a while; great for battery life. Power supply is small and easy to carry, very long cord length. Power management is great. It supports 1920 x 1200 32bpp on external DELL 24" using VGA out ! - it actually performs well on my Schematic CAD, Matlab, Mathcad and more. XP not Vista.

Cons: None really; it would be nice to have a low gloss display option but most all netbooks are the same (as well as the high gloss case); it has a touch pad on/off switch; it would be better to have a wireless on/off switch or be able to reconfigure this switch's function.

Overall Review: Newegg customer service is excellent !! The touch pad has many adjustments like momentum track-ball like motion and much more. The adjustments are critical for improving usability, in my opinion it is important to have a great touch pad because in a netbook you will use it a lot if your goal is mobility and lightweight portability. I use a 32 GB USB stick to load software on it by copying CD to the stick and running the install off the stick. Can watch movies from USB stick and memory card as well as the internal hard disk. 2GB patriot memory upgrade recommended.

Pros: keyboard- feels like a normal one but smaller, very comfortable for typing which is ideal for notes size- i can bring this anywhere unlike my old gigantic 17' laptop heat- very cool battery life- i am at 40% and it has 3.6 hours left. better than my old laptop (1.5 hours = 100% charged) boot time- i am using windows xp, changing to windows 7 and it should be even better. right now it boots like the rest of my computers

Cons: mouse pad- even at full sensitivity, it feels slow and unresponsive, i will get a bluetooth mouse. left and right click- they are the same button. i hate that, it is uncomfortable and feels like a mac.

Overall Review: i upgraded to 2gb ram at the start. i was scared at first, i didnt put the ram in all the way because it is a very fragile chip. you have to put muscle into it to snap it into the ram slot, do not be scared. if not, i will just stay as a black screen when you turn it on. also, you need to wedge the ram protection off, it feels broken but you just need to wedge it off. im installing windows 7 too. i will install adobe cs4 programs, office and world of warcraft on this laptop. i havent yet, but if you are interested in the performance, email me at jereminion@gmail.com and i will tell you how it is when i test it out. this is great for college, but i think i will bring it to work and everywhere else i want since it is so small and has the best battery life ive ever seen(well in real life, i have seen 12 hrs online).

Pros: This computer is a great deal! I have had it for about a week and I have no problems with it. I added 2 GB of corsair ddr2 ram and did the bios update and it works flawlessly! I am very impressed with the battery life. right now at 55 % i am sitting at almost 5 hours of battery left. great for the price. The keyboard size is excellent as well. I have big hands and i am able to type at pretty much my normal typing speed as i can on a regular desktop keyboard. I should have no problems busting out a paper in no time at all!

Cons: None really. I suppose if i put somthing down here it would be the fact of no CD drive, but of course i knew that going into it so im not bothered by it at all. It is everything i expected and more.

Overall Review: going to put Windows 7 on it and see how that works out. I heard it should run it no problem.

Overall Review: Be forewarned: There is a known power adapter issue with these machines. If you leave the adapter plugged when you don't have the netbook attached the power adapter can overheat and shut itself off. An easy fix is to unplug the adapter after charging the netbook or if it overheats leave the adapter in your fridge for 20 min, then try it. I hear getting a new adapter from asus is very slow.

Pros: This thing is responsive. The default XP boots very quickly, and the preinstalled programs are few in number, easy to get rid of. The screen is quite bright and clear. The keyboard is nearly fullsize; I can't tell the difference. This netbook is sturdily constructed, and has a sleek, minimalistic feel to it without feeling stripped of features. The hard drive comes prepartitioned into 2 equal sizes, one being the default installed XP. This makes it easy for everyone to dualboot. I installed CCCP, a popular codec pack, and CoreAVC, a powerful h.264 video decoder, and ran some tests. At 720p, this netbook has no problems playing h.264 mkvs, so if there are any fansub watchers, you're in luck. To test the gaming ability of this thing, I installed SimCity 4, a more logical choice than, say, Crysis. It ran fine. I'm sure a few other games will run well too, provided you run at low settings. Cons: The screen is 1024x600 if my memory serves me correctly. It's somewhat small as a result; when you browse the internet, you may find yourself scrolling a little bit more than usual. The touchpad uses a rockerbar instead of 2 buttons, which I didn't like at first. After some use, I got used to it, and it's not even that noticeable. You'll not be able to emulate a middle click as a result though. With no CD drive, you might have fun trying to get things bootable off of a USB Flash Drive or similar device, although it's quite simple if you look for some tutorials. I've managed to install Windows 7, for instance.

Overall Review: I'm running Windows 7 and XP in dual boot, and I plan to fill this thing with low-spec games like Melty Blood to play on the go. I'm also planning to put some videos on here and use it as a portable multimedia station. The blue color is a subtle deep color that looks nice without being flashy. Very nice if you don't want to be loud and don't want a dead black. UPS decided to have fun and place it in my garage instead of my main porch, so I missed the delivery and waited an extra 50 minutes before getting the thing.

Pros: This review is coming from an IT admin / power user perspective. This netbook comes out of the box with quite impressive speed, and if you're at all comfortable playing with things like gmabooster and setfsb and tweaking system services per Black Viper's guide, this thing down right rocks. Setfsb is particularly risky if you don't know what you're doing, and I'm sure it probably voids the warranty so do at your own risk. My experiences with the unit come from the perspective of usage after having applied these tweaks. Multitasking is no problem even with 1 GB ram, I can run Firefox with multiple tabs, pidgin, yahoo messenger, and an office 2007 app with ram to spare and quickly flip between apps. Web browsing and video no problem, hulu full screen tv watching, espn videos, flash, no problem. I'm having a hard time shaking ac adapter paranoia, usually after a couple hours I'm starting to think about where my plug is but I've still got 70% battery with this guy.

Cons: The track pad is a little weird, little bumps on it take getting used to, but I found if you turn up the sensitivity you don't notice them as much. Case is fingerprint magnet, I just keep a little microfiber cloth in its provided carrying case to wipe it down now and then, no biggie.

Overall Review: Good sharp screen. Feels solid, very little flex in the case. Designed it right with small feet on the bottom that keep it lifted up enough for good airflow when sitting on a flat surface. Games. It's running GMA950 graphics so we have to be a little realistic with expectations in that department, that said I was pleasantly surprised. GTA Vice City runs perfectly at full graphics. Trackmania runs good with graphics all the way down, only complex tracks make it stutter. Torchlight runs good in netbook mode, slows a bit in areas with lots of enemys / complex levels but still very playable. My only hold up on getting one sooner was the low screen resolution, but I'm actually finding myself preferring it for this size screen, fonts are a really good size, and some firefox theme tweaks open up the browser view. Most sites are 1024 width anyway and they all look good. Final verdict, amazing. This thing is so versatile it's absurd.

Pros: Amazing battery life, great wireless, nice VGA out and resolution options, awesome display (better than my brother's $700 laptop), touchpad is better than most I've tried, beefy speakers if tweaked a bit. This thing can handle much more than you'd think. Running F.E.A.R enjoyfully on low settings surprised the hell out of me. WoW runs well enough in low populated areas to get on and do some grinding. Carrara runs great, and lets me do my modeling on the go. PS1 and N64 emulators run full speed with nice settings. The CPU actually shows up as a dual core for me. Not entirely sure why, if it's a glitch or what (I can't find any info on it). Task manager shows two separate cores running, and Carrara rendering uses multi-threading.

Cons: Bloatware (comes standard with all laptops). Factory partitions are kind of stupid (who wants their OS partition and storage split right down the middle?). Reinstalling Windows was a bit of a hassle without an external DVD drive, but I managed to make a boot disk and install from the built in SD slot.

Overall Review: Someone seriously gave it one star JUST because the power supply failed after SIX months? That'd be one star docked at the most... They're like 20 bucks, buy a new one and keep using an awesome netbook. The power supplies ARE a bit weird with power, but that's because of a built in fail safe. If you leave it plugged into a power outlet without it charging your laptop, it will trigger the fail safe and stop working. Unplug it for an hour or two and try again. Then learn how to unplug it when it's not in use.

Pros: It comes with XP Home, but I dual booted with UNR (Ubuntu Netbook Remix) and that appears to "just work." Battery life is great, even under Linux (which does not have all the proprietary battery saving apps). Very light weight, and a very clear screen. I sometimes sit it in the seat in an old beat up pickup and plug it into my stereo for road trips, and even with the bumps have seen no problems with the HDD function. Very light weight, but feels solid, if that makes any sense. Under XP and UNR, rotate screen to turn it into a "real book" for reading ebooks (software function). Built in card reader is nice (did not notice that) and can be used as additional storage.

Cons: Glossy surface is a total fingerprint magnet. HDD appears to be horrible to get to (I'm sure there is a "how to" out there someplace). I hate touch pads when I'm typing so I turn it off and carry a bluetooth mouse with me. Screen takes some getting used to, and is too small for some applications which have fixed screen sizes. Battle for Wesnoth, hulu.com, others are a problem. That is not the eee's fault, though.

Overall Review: Comes with two user partitions initially. Since I wanted to dual boot Linux and Windows, I decreased the size of the first and completely deleted the second, then made two small partitions and one huge one for data sharing (using ext2 extension for Windows to access the ext3 system I put on it). I am having one problem. When I run Linux, then reboot into Windows, XP thinks the wireless is turned off, so I have to turn off the wireless, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on again. Not sure who is to blame for that one, but it is minor. I use this as my DMP, e-mail reader, video player and, most importantly, as a ssh/rdp workstation when on client sites. has paid for itself in the 6 weeks I've had it, just in work related areas. Sound is ok for Skype in a quiet environment, but need headphones for anyplace not extremely quiet.
