Question 1

Has anyone encountered consistent WIFI connectivitiy problems with this computer?  My seems to drop the connection frequently.  Any tips to fix it, or should I request a replacement?

I was a little worried about the same issue as it seems to be mentioned in several reviews. I've had mine for about a week now and haven't noticed any Wi-Fi related issues. It has frozen on me several times and the two-finger-scrolling sometimes stops working until I reboot the machine but coming from a Mac I assume these are just normal Windows issues. My biggest gripe is the screen though. It looks noticeably more washed out than our Lenovo (same resolution) and the fact that it doesn't tilt back further is just plain annoying. Overall, I'm happy with the laptop although I wish it came with more than 3 months warranty (warranty wasn't specified on product page at time of purchase).

Is this keyboard back lit?

Yes the keyboard is backlit. I don't realize it till I pressed one of the buttons at the top.

Does this laptop have a built in CD / DVD?

I know the industry is moving away from that technology, but I still need it for now.

This laptop does not have a built in cd/dvd. You will need to get an external usb cd/dvd drive.

It is a fourth generation processor. In the processor name, 4700MQ, the first digit indicates the generation.

Lee,  Yes, it almost looked brand new, but not all the way.  I guess the best way to answer your question would be to say it looked like a 9.5 out of 10.  The rest of the computer was in good shape.

I don't think so. When clicked Office icon, it pop up a window asking you to buy or activate the Office.

No this one doesnt have CD/DVD. It would be good if you upgrade to Windows 8.1. Its a good laptop. I guess this will last long for me.

does this computer happen to have any optics?

No it doesn't. Just standard headphone/audio out and sound out though hdmi port. If you have to have it you can add it through a usb port. I own this and I do everything from write programs, record and edit audio and video, play games and watch movies. Great buy!

Pretty good. Local clarity is great quality but of course remote is based on the internet speed at the time. It's clear and the sound pickup is very good also.
