I know you can use a bluetooth keyboard with this tablet. We got this for my wife and she says it works pretty good with the bluetooth keyboard.

As computer professor I certify that it works very well with all the features of Win 8.1; for me it has been very important since my official idiom is Spanish and you can imagine the use of special characters. The best of all is to have Office 2013 included. Believe or not I bought it for my 91 year old mother; she asked me to teach her some computer basics.

The tablet includes full versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and OneNote. They do not come installed on the tablet, however there is an activation card inside the box that has the activation code.

Does it have microsoft office pre-installed and activated? or would i need to buy it and add it?

It doesn't and I wouldn't use an external drive for installing Office, because some files will have to be installed on your internal drive and the program would not work on other computers from the external drive,  anyway.
