Question 1

Two questions
1. Does it have a DVD drive?  If not do any Lenovo Idea Pad Flex have one.

2. Can I run Office 2007 on this?   I have copy and really don't need anything more than basic Excel and Word.

No optical drive, probably to keep weight down.  I use a $30 external drive if needed.  USB pen drives are replacing optical drives.

It runs Office but I don't know how it would handle Office 2007 it being a 32 bit program.  Lenovo may have a 32 bit version of Windows available.  Check Lenovo's web site for info on the 32 bit vs 64 bit thing.

I recommend this LT, it's fairly light, fast loading and has been completely trouble free for me.

Question 2

Do this have a 360 hinge? If not is there a model like this that does?

It's not 360 no. It will hinge back far enough to allow the keyboard to sit on the bottom and have the screen face you at a 45 degree angle, but it won't hinge all the way back to allow you to just hold it in your hands and be flat. It's more of a laptop that can double as a tablet then the vice versa. I had looked at another Lenovo in a store that was a smaller screen and more portable that did have that capability but I don't know the model number. It was more of a tablet that can double as a laptop. Hope that helps.

Question 3

I will primarily be videoconferencing for work. What is the webcam quality? Has anyone had any unforeseen problems connecting to a projector?

Hey Sarah,

The video quality for this device is just alright. It's a little bit grainy when using Skype. No problems with using a projector, although to be honest I just use an HDMI connection and it works like a charm.

Two questions please:

- Can the touch pad be completely turned off/disabled?

- I have never had a computer/laptop without an optical drive; what do you do if you need to reload the operating system?

1) Yes, the F6 alt function is to turn off the touch pad.

2) You'll find most systems today do not come with OS DVDs. They rely on a System Restore function. Basically all the info needed to restore the device to factory settings are saved on the hard drive. Sometimes the partition is hidden so you don't accidentally delete it. Lenovos tend to have a small, circular, hard to press button next to the power button that takes you to the factory restore menu.

I'd like a separate graphics card -like the 2 GB ddr3 nvidia GT 740M - can it be added? by you or by me?

This, as well as most laptops can not have a discrete graphics card added. You'll want to look for a model with a discrete graphics card already installed from a store, or order one from the manufacturer, certain models will allow you to customize the laptop with a discrete graphics card.

Does this product have an additional bay to install a HDD along side the SSD?

No extra bay. The size of the SSD is the only thing that concerned me about the laptop, but everything has been running smoothly. Buy an external HD if space is an issue.

128GB or 500GB depending on model purchased. And it comes with Windows 8(basic edition).

What is the type of the network adapter?

Not sure whether you're referíng to wired or wireless. Wired adapter is standard gigabit ethernet port. Although in pictures it looks odd since it is partially cover by a swinging flap. The wireless antenna is wireless N. Do you need the specific models for the NIC and wireless card?
