Question 1

Do I need to order an AC adapter for this?  If so, which one is correct?  I hear it comes with the wrong one. Thanks!

Unfortunately it does come with the wrong adapter; it'll charge the battery, but the computer warns you that the adapter isn't supplying enough power. Call Lenovo, and submit a warranty request for a 130 W power adapter. They shipped mine out really quickly.

Question 2

Does this come in a graphic grey color with a back lite  keyboard?

The inside is graphic grey and outside is black, there are no other options for color. It does have a back lite keyboard that can be turned on and off by pressing the Fn key and space bar at the same time.

This is the best computer I have purchased to date.......I will say if you turn up the performance to full throttle, battery life is around 4 hrs. There is an app, called Energy Manager, installed on the computer that allows you to adjust settings to make the battery last longer.

Question 3

I am hearing issues with the battery and ac adapter on this model. Have those issues been resolved by the manufacturer?

I'm not satisfied with battery life- as I only use battery when I put the machine on standby- then shuttle the laptop between home and work.  There does not appear to be a hibernate in Windows 8- so if I don't plug in for 24 hours the machine dies in standby, and boots from an unclean shutdown when I plug it back in.  If this happens when you plug it in again it does not resume charging unless you remove the battery and put it back in again...  so this is a problem.  You only need to do a full shutdown to avoid this.  The other issue in my opinion is the battery life is too short.  I am searching for a power pack, a spare battery, or some other solution or in case I need more time away from an AC power source.

As for the power adapter, no problems whatsoever.

Question 4

On the Lenovo Z710, will it be possible to reformat the HD and load on Windows 7 64Bit after I receive this computer. Are all the drivers necessary for running Windows 7 64bit readily available with Lenovo? Thanks

If you have a valid Windows 7 product key, then you can reformat it and load the OS. As for drivers, that depends on the manufacturer. The drivers may be auto-detected, but you may need to go to Lenovo's website and look up Windows 7 64-bit drivers for this model, then download them on another computer and transfer to the new with a USB.

If you don't have a key, you will have to call Microsoft to get downgrade rights.
