TransFlash (sometimes abbreviated TF) and microSD cards are the same; each can be used in devices made for the other

btw:  The tablet is a good deal but missing features that $200 tables have, like blue tooth.  But my 7 year old can play mine craft on it, its responsive "enough".  And dirt cheap.  My 10 year old's Galaxy Tab 2 7 is way better, but very happy with the value on a workable tablet.

With no Flash support, does this device support the YouTube app/links via another format?

bought this for a gift for son.I don't know yet if everything works until the 18th of November.....I'll be happy to answer then tho......:-) from the looks of things, the jelly bean operating system will allow you tube and flash supported things, might have to download Adobe from the play store, I'm sure things will work perfect, for the price you really can't beat it.keep in mind I bought for a6 year old so I think it will suit him just fine. :-)

Does this have wi-fi or does it carry its own connection?

This has wifi, not it's own connection. This tablet is great for reading but it's very basic, not very powerful.

Think I would be able to use USB instrument cables on this? From the box? With some tweaking?

The USB connector on the Avatar tablet is a micro-USB female connector. Adaptors, which would allow a regular male USB connection, are hard to find. But I did get a right angle one. It allows me to use flash drives. I can pull information from such drives, to view photos, listen to music, or to watch videos. I tried using my 4G wireless USB device, but it didn't work. I've not tried other uses of the micro-USB port. The problem with the right angle adaptor is that it blocks the 5-volt power in jack, so when I'm using it, I can't use the ac power, and must depend on the battery, alone.
