How long is the shelf life of this compound once opened? I'm a bit worried about the size of the tube. Anyone's experiences would be helpful.

I purchased a large tube because I finally ran out of the small tube.

I want to say that by the time I ran out of the small tube it was about 4-5 years old, and I gotta say that the consistency of the paste did not noticeably change for me, and I never had any issues with the paste not doing what it was supposed to do.

Therefore, I can attest to 4-5 years of use without issue

Yes you can. As a side point, I usually check with artic silver as to the correct application of the paste as well. You can find that information in a .pdf guide on their website, as its different with some processors to get the maximum heat transfer efficiency out of it.

Just use it and take normal precautions to keep it off of your skin. It's not toxic enough to burn you or corrode metal. Of course anything that gets in your eye will be painful. I recommend Artic's cleaning solutions too. I have no idea about the MSDS or ROHs compliancy for them.

Is this a ROHS Compliant material?

Yes. ALL solder, components, pastes, etc. today are RHOS compliant, unless it has a BIG sign indicating it not being so.

does this paste conduct electricity / can I use it on my GPU?

Accepted Answer

This paste transferes heat and is electrically insulating.  I've used it probably 80 times or so on both GPUs and CPUs.  A GPU is a CPU but only makes calculations for a memory card vs a system board.  Your good to go.

What's the difference between this and the AS5 3.5G? They look like they are the same size tubes, so I didn't think the G meant grams.
