It does not have micro sd expansion compatibility. The slot is only capable of accepting a nano sim card.

It has NFC and Android Beam if that helps. Cannot answer as to whether or not it has Android Pay capabilities but I would think so.

Can I still have AT&T as my carrier? Is it "any carrier" compatible?

Yes. It's a GSM phone. It was designed for the AT&T network, to my understanding.

do you know what networks I can use this phone with in the US?

I'm pretty sure you can use it with any pre paid places like metro pcs and boost Mobile as well as T-Mobile and any other carriers you would have to ask if you can bring your own phone. It's compatible with all networks except Verizon I think it's just a policy matter.

What operating system does it have? Says 6.0 in the specs yet lollipop elsewhere. 6.0 is marshmallow. Also is there a micro SD card slot?

It currently ships with Marshmallow 6.0.1.  
It had originally shipped with lollipop when it first came out.

It does not have a micro SD card slot but it does have USB OTG so you can use an OTG adapter with a micro SD card to transfer files (as if it were an external flash drive).  
Since it can only run apps from its internal flash memory, you might consider getting the 64GB version.

Would this phone work with StraightTalk? I know it works with carriers like T-Mobile, and AT&T, but I don't want to switch carriers just to use this phone, it's too much hassle.

If we purchased this phone just before the "promo" for a free powerbank and speaker, can we be grandfathered in to the promotion?  My phone was supposed to ship in 3 days and it has taken a week- if i would have just waited a few more days I could have got these items...
