Question 1

My question is if it is either the 5pin or 11pin configuration? have come to find out the 5pin will not work with most phones. Have to get the 11pin. figured that out the hard way of course.

I am not 100% sure, but I believe this is the 5 pin configuration. I bought it on the spot when it was a shell shocker deal the other day. It does not work with my galaxy S4, which after further research i now know requires the 11 pin version. There is however a small 5 pin to 11 pin adapter for around 4 dollars. Depending on pricing, this may be the best option.

Question 2

Will this product work with a Motorola Droid Razr Maxx?  Or for that matter any Motorola phone?  I searched the MHL consortium as advised by Todd R (thanks Todd), though found no Motorola products in the list.   The device would be nice, else I can keep plugging my LT up to my TV to stream in them meantime until newegg comes out with an alternate product.  Any help?

this is a 5 pin mhl device you would need to find out how many pins is your usb port and then also see if it is mhl capable its ether 5 or 11 pin all new phones usually are gonna be 11 pin but there is a converter for a 5 pin to a 11 pin if your phone does not match this device

Will this adapter work on a galaxy s4?

The quick answer is "It should work." Why? See below.

If you were to look at the MHL Consortium website. The list shows all MHL compatible devices as new as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and as old as phones like the LG Spectrum.

(They won't let me post the link, Google MHL consortium and go to the mobile devices list.)

To go into more detail, the list states the Samsung Galaxy S4 is a Mobile High-Definition Link ("MHL") compatible device, however this list assumes that the phone is functioning properly (Stock vs Rooting/custom ROM, and does not address possible hardware connection issues (the charger port does get quite a bit of abuse over time) if this cable is designed properly, and the other parts like the HDMI cable to connect them to the monitor/TV are of the right quality & specs.

Per the Scosche website instructions for the device it was compatible with the S2 in 2011 (Page 1 left side of the document).

If you're concerned about it not working despite all this, review Newegg's return policy to see if it's worth your trouble to buy it and need to return it if it should not work. Me personally, I'm buying one for my Note 3. :-)

It's not working with the HTC Desire 51. How come?

The HTC Desire 510 doesn't support MHL.
