my dashboard is not smooth.  i have used suction cup holders before & they would not hold.  would this one hold ?

This one will...the suction cup will conform to your dashboard's hills and valleys....just make sure you clean the area you are going to attach the Iottie to, and be sure to press down on the lock completely.This mount is the best I've had, Consumers reports was right on the money about this one

Will it adjust and stick to windshield?

It provides several different knobs for adjusting the pitch and orientation. The base has self-stick layer along with suction cup to securely attach itself to the windshield. Even under hours of hot summer sun, the mount won't get loose. It is possible to pry it off the windshield and reattach as well.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is just a tad too wide to fit between the arms. If you removed one of the foam pads, it might fit but then I don't know how tightly it would hold onto the phone.

Do the holding clips at the bottom inhibit the use of an Aux cable or the lightning cable with an iPhone 5?

works fine  on a  samsung galexy with  normal mini usb  connector
but   i  don't  know  about  the giant proprietary apple  connector
also  my  aux  is  on top and i  have  no idea where   apple  would   put  theirs

but  the  box  says  it  works  with  a   iphone 5s 5c 5 and  4s

this  is  hands  down  the  best  holder i  have  ever used

can the swivel arm move up to a vertical position  so the holder  can be parallel to the dash?  I want to hold a radar detector.

Yes, both the Angle Adjusting Knob and the Mount Adjusting Knob allow 360 degree rotation.  Be sure your radar detector is not more than 2.9" high - if it is higher, you probably want the iOttie Black Easy One Touch XL Car Mount Holder HLCRIO101, which goes up to 3.3".  One more thought - mounting the radar detector horizontal means the spring loaded mounts are supporting the weight of the detector - instead of the support shelf.  Any spring can weaken over time, which could allow the detector to vibrate.   If this happens, you should be able to rig something to hold it tighter.  Good Luck!

I dont see how fits anything bigger than an iphone with a case on it. Which i have and that leaves just enough room for it to close.   It says it fits the galaxy which looks to be the same size.  I would call the company,  its a easy fantastic car mount if it works for ur lg2.

Hey I just have an iPhone 4S without a cover. However, the holder uses a spring to adjust to the phone size. If I had to guess I would say yes the spring should adjust to fit it. One of my best purchases from newegg I love this phone holder. It's a good one.

Is the earphone jack on the iPhone 5s still available when in the mount?  It looks like it would be covered up, thus preventing connecting to aux jack in car.

The clips are spring loaded and there is enough wiggle-room for the earphone jack of the 5s to clear the bottom clip.  The charge/USB chord in the center also clears the clip which has a gap in the center.  The vacuum attachment for the windshield is excellent, it has never come loose, not even in 100+ degree days!
