Question 1

Can this be used with a charger? If so does it come with one?

Accepted Answer

1. Mine did not come with an AC Adapter.
2. There is a connection point on the side of the unit for a 6V adapter, however. It is not mentioned in the owners manual. Typical round connector with center post. Not USB.
3. I have had the unit for about a year and am on my first set of batteries. Not needing an adapter let me position it in an out of the way location.
4. Works great

Question 2

Is the push button ok to mount outdoors? is it somewhat water proof?

Accepted Answer

I did mount my outdoors but it is under an awning and does not come in direct contact with rain, outside of misting from the wind blowing the rain. Looking at the plastic housing, I believe over time water might seep into the battery compartment and degrade the internal components. Hope this helps. Steve

Question 3

Will you hear the doorbell in the basement and second floor?

Accepted Answer

I guess it depends on your hearing. We have a 2 story condo and can hear the chime from the upstairs with no problem. We are in our seventy's and there are not any children in the home. My wife has a sewing room in the back of the unit upstairs and she cannot hear it if she is sewing up there with the door closed, there fore I purchased a separate chime for the sewing room.

Question 4

It takes batteries which is fine. It doesn't say what kind. What kind? 12v automotive batteries? Sorry to be sarcastic but that is kind of an important detail.

Accepted Answer

The main chime unit operates on (4) C batteries (not included). The Push Button operates on (1) CR2032 coin cell battery (included).

Question 5

Question 6

Are two doorbell buttons included?

Accepted Answer

I only got one with the order, and I ordered another one separately.

Question 7

Is this an extender for wired door chime. I need am extender so that when in basement can hear the doorbell?

Accepted Answer

This is not an extender. This is a wireless replacement for what is usually a wired bell inside the house. The package includes a wireless push button whose role is similar to a conventional door bell button. In summary, this is a wireless replacement for a standard wired button and bell.

In place of an extender, this can rigged as a supplemental bell by installing an external Honeywell wireless motion detector at your door, with this piece in the basement. Whether false rings would be an issue or not, I can't say.

Question 8

WHat else would i have to purchase to make this a door contact?

Accepted Answer

Need wireless door contacts RCA901N1006/A

Question 9

If I buy 2 of these for different places in the home will they talk to each other/ring both places?

Accepted Answer

Yes. They don't really talk to each other, but you just program the button for both units. Place unit 1 into programming mode, press doorbell button. Place unit 2 into programming mode, press doorbell button. They two really don't know each other but are receiving the same signal from the doorbell.

Question 10

How are these USB Flash Drives shown here as accessories used? What is their purpose? Does this suggest that tunes recorded on them can be played as alternatives to the prerecorded chimes?

Accepted Answer

They are not being shown as accessories. Any product you look at on newegg will have other ads around it. The placement is not suggesting interactivity or compatibility. They are just ads.
