The Ring Outside Door Sensor extends entry-point monitoring beyond the front door, covering the gates, sheds, side doors, and other outdoor access points that Ring's standard indoor Window & Door Sensor isn't built to withstand. Built with an IP66 weatherproof rating, it's designed to hold up to rain, dust, and temperature swings while still sending a real-time alert to the Ring app the moment the monitored entry point opens. Like the rest of Ring's Sensors lineup, it connects automatically over Amazon Sidewalk, a free nationwide network that Ring says covers approximately 95% of the US population, rather than relying on a hub or the limited outdoor range of home WiFi. This makes it well suited to gates, detached garages, sheds, and other structures that sit outside typical WiFi range. Amazon Sidewalk also provides automatic backup connectivity so the sensor keeps reporting even if your home WiFi drops, and many eligible Echo and Ring devices in the neighborhood help strengthen the shared network. Power comes from 2 included AA alkaline batteries, rated by Ring for up to 10 years of use depending on event frequency and proximity to a Sidewalk Gateway. The sensor works with the Ring app for monitoring and alerts, is compatible with Alexa, and can be added alongside an existing Ring Alarm or Alarm Pro base station without conflict, or used entirely on its own with no hub, sign-up fees, or subscription required to connect. With a compatible Ring Protect subscription, the Outside Door Sensor also supports optional 24/7 Professional Monitoring, letting you request emergency dispatch, remotely arm and disarm your system from anywhere, and trigger SOS emergency response directly from the Ring app. Measuring 80 x 58.5 x 30.7mm (3.15 x 2.30 x 1.21 inches) in a Grey finish, the sensor is rated for operating conditions from -4 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 to 49 degrees Celsius) and carries UL and FCC certifications.
