Does it come with a remote?

The Yamaha Sound Bar does include the remote. The last picture in the listing displays the contents of the package and what you would expect to receive.

It is my understanding that it is. I can let you know that it has not failed or been sketchy in any way since I bought it. I had some problems using the arc HDMI connection for the TV (This could have been my TV). I bypassed it by using the optical set-up. You might like to know that it has a a connection for a powered sub-woofer as well. The remote is simple, but effective with some range for different listening scenarios. Its a good price  for the sound quality that you get. I have it mounted underneath my TV on the wall. This seems to be when you get the best sound. You can simply set it flat onto the entertainment center, but this may cause some dissipation in sound. I tried this initially before I mounted it to my wall, and I have to say it sounds better mounted on the wall.

Is this the later version with built in DTS -Virtual X surround?

According to Yamaha's page about the update to YAS 107, your "Surround" light will glow blue if you have "DTS® Virtual:X™" or "3D surround playback". Mine's glowing blue, so I'm guessing this does have DTS Virtual X.
