That is actually how I am using it currently. I play video games, watch movies, and netflix all through my computer.

I am using it as a monitor on my home theater PC and it works great. It's clear and you can easily read text. I stream netflix through my PC and it comes out 1080p... I use the optical out on the back of the TV and plug it into my surround system...
