Does this TV support VESA or other types of mounts? I would like to mount it to my wall using one of the many wall mounts available.

Yes, it does have VESA support. I mounted 2 on the Qualgear mount as banner displays for a client: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4C81DC1006 It is a VESA 100x100mm mount, I chose the Qualgear because it is the thinnest swing arm when put against the wall.

Does it have surround sound?

The built-in speakers leave much to be desired.  At bare minimum, I would recommend routing the audio through a 3-piece computer speaker system (Left + Right + Subwoofer).  It won't cost you that much and will dramatically improve the spatial experience.  I would recommend my Altec Lansing ATP3 speaker system except that it is over 10 years old and no longer in production.

While I'm writing, I will add that I am not knocked out by the picture quality.  It's not *bad*, but I have the unit mounted on the wall hanging right next to my 20-year-old Sharp 32" tube (as in CRT) TV and with the exception of titles (character text) on a DVD, my good ol' TV looks as good or better.  This is my first new TV in 20 years and its only real advantages seem to be HDMI and USB inputs and electrical consumption.
