Question 1

It appears this TV runs in 4K at 30Hz. Can anyone confirm the Hz for 2K resolution?

You can get the SE50UY04 to run at up to 120hz if you use it as a monitor for your PC and "overclock" it. I have a high end NVIDIA GeForce card and the GeFoce driver software allows you to manually set the refresh rate for different resolutions. I've successfully run the unit at 120hz at 1920 x 1080. The cons = you can't get this monitor to run at 4k (3840 x 2160) with 120hz refresh rate and I also notice some bleeding at 1920 x 1080 with 120hz, but it is manageable / not that bad.

Question 2

I want this to use as a computer monitor, but I can't decide which video card to buy for it.  Can you make suggestions?  I would prefer to keep the cost of the video card less than the cost of the monitor.

I am currently using mine as a monitor.  For less than the cost of the TV itself you can buy almost any GPU (video card) except for the couple at the very top.  Any Nvidia GPU that is a GTX 640 or better is able to do 4K resolution meaning any Nvidia 700 series would also work.  Any AMD GPU that is 7000 series or better will deliver 4K content digitally as well.  AMD GPUs typically are less expensive but generally prefer Nvidia for their quality and performance even if they can be pricier.  One thing to note is that this TV does not support very high frame rates I believe 30FPS at 4K is the maximum frame rate at the highest resolution.  Knowing that you should not plan on playing most PC games using this screen regardless of what GPU you have.  For the lowest price I recommend either a Radeon HD 7800 or a R9 270 series or a GTX 670 series.  Those are not the cheapest that support 4K but they are the cheapest that support 4K that I would recommend buying.  Something more mid-tier would be R9 280X or a GTX 680 or a GTX 770.  On the high end, but still less than the TV cost is the GTX 780TI which is what I use or the R9 290X.  I should note that I don't think you'll see much difference between the mid-tier and high end cards if you use 4K resolution simply due to the cap on the frame rate the TV has at that resolution.  So if you only plan on doing non-graphics intensive work at a high resolution don't waste money on a higher end card.  Hope that helps.

Does this TV has built in WI-Fi? Can I get on line to Netflix or facebook?

This TV does not have built in Wi-Fi you will have to attach a device like Roku in order to access Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu etc.

I highly recommend the Roku either the USB/HDMI stick as it's mostly self contained and hidden away from sight, or the set top box.  They only costs about $50, can add custom channels, and performs very well.

THIS IS THE FACT... , IN MY CASE  I DO 3D EDITING  AND MOSTLY DO ALL THE STEREOSCOPY ADJUSTMENTS  WITH THE PARTICULAR SOFTWARE IN ANAGLYPHICS MODE  (( TWO COLORS SINGLE IMAGE 3D)) AND USUALLY RED AND CYAN .... FOR THIS PURPOSE  I WILL SAY YES.., IS 3D CAPABLE  AS FOR WATCHING THIS TYPE OF CLIPS.....
NOW REALD D 3D AND ACTIVE GLASSES 3D IS A TECHNOLOGY WICH THIS TV IS NO READY OR CAPABLE FOR...!, SINCE THE ELECTRONIC DESIGN DOES NOT INCLUDED THIS HARDWARE TECHNOLOGY....!

Does it have a Optical Digital Audio Output?

Most audio output comes from the audio source - which in my case is my FiOS TV box. It does have optical audio out. I think most cable boxes these days if providing HD output will also have audio output.

If you are picking up HD over the air - the only audio output is in the form of phono/headphone jack audio, which I happen to be using for now into my bookshelf system.

The audio quality on the this TV is pathetic at best. My parents could not tell the difference until I hooked up my little bookshelf system.

I'm very pleased with the sound output. I'm not enthralled with suround sound audio in my living room and so I'm perfectly happy with the volume.
As far as I'm concerned it's an excellant value for the money.

Hello! I want to take the plunge into the 4k UHD world and purchase this TV but I want to make sure it lives up to expectations. I should be able to play blu-rays on this TV and have them look clearer/better than on a normal 1080p HD TV right? I mean it doesn't require any new video format/feed that hasn't been created yet correct?

Without actual 4K content, it's unlikely that a 1080p source would look any better on a 4K display -- in fact, it may not look as good due to the need to scale the image.  I don't have a 50" TV 1080p to compare to, but my thought is that if you don't have 4K content, it's not worth getting a 4K display.

Can it/How well does it handle 2K? I won't use it for 4k becuause of the 30fps limitation, but is it still an image improvement with 2k and what is the max refresh rate @ 2K?

I've used it with my Xbox One to play Titanfall at 1080p @ 60 Hz (with a computer it can do 1080p at 120 Hz).  I think it's fine for that, but it's also fast-moving content.  I don't think it would be as good for more static content as compared with a native 1080p display due to the need to scale the image, but I can't say that for sure, as I don't have a 50" native 1080p display to compare against..

Is it 120Hz at 4K?  I'm assuming it's 30Hz @ 4K and 120Hz @ 1080p, but it isn't specified.

Absolutely right. With custom firmware you can maybe push 45hz at 4k. Regardless, you will not be able to play anything worth while on 4k in terms of games. There is just too much input lag. I've ran a few games at 4k and while the fps hovers around 40 (which is very playable) there is just way too much input lag to enjoy the game. This TV works very well at 1080p@120hz. The weird part is, it did not have it as a default resolution. I had to make a custom resolution through Nvidia control panel. Also, make sure you play with the overscan options to align the display. Furthermore, turn sharpness to 0, it makes the display nice and crisp. I've really enjoyed using this TV as a monitor, its very nice for PC gaming.

Can this be mounted on a wall, or does the stand not come off?
