Does this TV have a QAM Tuner?

I assume it does have a QAM tuner. Ours is mounted to the ceiling over a dental chair. The TV source is only through cable. There are no over the air stations in the area (ATSC). Currently we do not receive HD, but will be making that change. We are using another of the TV's as a monitor on an intel i7 computer and the display has been great.

can I use it as monitor for security  camera ? good or bad ?

It depends on how you're connecting the camera feed. This can be connected to a PC using the VGA port and it works just like any monitor.

Is this good as a monitor? My pc has an HDMI out and I'd like to put it to use I'm currently using my DVI port and refuse to use the VGA port because of quality issues.

I can't speak to its visual quality as a monitor, as I'm using it as a tv.  I imagine it will be fine using an hdmi connection.  I wouldn't bother using an LCD with a VGA signal either, because you'd have to adjust the clock and phase settings to obtain a still noisier video signal.

60Hz, so it won't do 3D.

I am VERY sensitive to flicker and I see none.  In fast motion scenes the 60Hz may cause motion blur - I don't know - I don't watch much sports or fast motion.

My only criticism is that the vertical viewing angle is about 100 degrees, not 160, from slightly below looking straight on horizontal to looking from above.  If you look at the TV from below about 20 degrees from horizontal the picture gets dark. The horizontal viewing angle is excellent - you can see the TV from the sides clearly. Otherwise for the money I'm VERY happy with my purchase.

Refresh rate is 5ms, the panel is a TFT type, LED lit.

is there a connection to power it with 12volts ... from a 120v source without an external device ?
