Building on the synthesis platform of the award-winning
Superego, the Electro Harmonix Superego Plus Synth Engine raises the bar when
it comes to creating synth effects, sound layers, glissandos, infinite sustain,
and more. Plus, EHX has added a complete effects section featuring 11 effects
types, an EXP input for effect parameter control and preset recall, and an EXT
jack for a 3-button controller.
Effects
DETUNE has pitch detune, EXP pedal controls pitch. DELAY has a warm,
analog-sounding delay, feedback is preset, and EXP controls delay time up to 2
seconds. ECHO gives pristine digital delay, feedback is preset, EXP pedal
controls delay time up to 2 seconds. FLANGE features an Electric Mistress style
with filter matrix, rate, and feedback, and also features an EXP pedal control
rate. PHASE gives Small Stone-style phase shifting with rate and depth control.
EXP controls rate. MOD gives pitch-based vibrato or chorus. EXP controls rate.
ROTARY provides rotary speaker-style sound. Depth controls tweeter and horn
balance, along with EXP pedal controls rate. TREM 1 gives sine wave tremolo,
and EXP controls the rate. TREM 2 square wave tremolo and EXP controls rate.
PITCH gives a pitch-shifting effect over a plus and minus one-octave range. EXP
controls whammy. FILTER gives a resonant low-pass filter. EXP pedal controls
frequency.
Controls
The pedal provides enough sound shaping control to please the most sonically
adventurous player and is equipped with Dry, Effect, Attack, Decay, Threshold,
Layer, and Gliss knobs, plus Rate and Depth knobs for the Effects Section. Four
foot-switchable Freeze modes - Moment, Sustain, Auto, and Latch, plus a Live
Effects mode where the dry signal is routed through the built-in effects and
the internal synth engine is disabled, are included. The polyphonic Superego
Plus works with guitar as well as other instruments including bass, keyboards,
vocals, drums, etc., and comes equipped with an EHX 9.6DC-200 AC Adaptor.
Knobs
DRY Knob controls the volume level of the dry signal. As you turn DRY clockwise
the volume of the DRY signal increases to a maximum of plus 3dB. The EFFECT
Knob controls the volume of the effected signal. Fully CCW removes the effect
signal entirely. Fully CW presents the maximum effect signal. The effect volume
control operates before the SEND output jack in the signal chain. ATTACK Knob
controls the fade-in speed of the frozen signal. When set fully CCW, the frozen
signal starts immediately. As the knob is turned CW the frozen signal fades in
more slowly. Adjust the ATTACK knob to create swell and pad effects. DECAY Knob
Controls the fade-out speed of the frozen signal. When fully CCW, the frozen
signal fades out quickly. As the knob is turned CW, the fade-out time
increases. When set fully CW, the frozen signal plays indefinitely until a new
freeze function is triggered. If the DECAY knob is set very high at the time
the Superego Plus goes into bypass, the bypass LED flashes as the effect signal
fades out. This bypass fade-out time is determined by the DECAY setting and
provides a maximum fade-out time of up to 2 seconds. Once the bypass fadeout is
complete the LED turns off as the Superego Plus enters bypass. THRESHOLD Knob
controls how sensitive the Superego Plus is to the input signal. THRESHOLD is
the least sensitive when set fully CCW. In this setting, the input signal has
to be very strong to trigger the effect. As the knob is turned CW, the Superego
Plus becomes more sensitive and the effect becomes increasingly easier to
trigger. When set fully CW, even light playing will trigger the effect.
