The AddOn Accessories USBEXTAA6 is a 6-foot USB 2.0 Type-A male-to-female extension cable for users who need extra reach between a USB-A port and a connected cable or device.
Recommended For
- Desktop users whose USB 2.0 keyboard or mouse cable falls short can use this 6-foot extension to reach a more convenient spot without moving the computer. Community discussions describe this kind of short extension as suitable for low-bandwidth peripherals.
- PC users who want to place a wireless mouse or keyboard receiver closer to their desk can use the extension to reposition the receiver away from a hard-to-reach computer port.
- Home-office users who need to route a USB 2.0 peripheral cable around or beneath a desk can add up to 6 feet of reach while keeping the computer in its existing position.
- Users with a USB 2.0 device and a short attached cable can use it as a simple inline extension when they need extra reach, rather than replace the device’s existing cable.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- When a desktop tower is tucked under or beside a desk, use the extension to bring a USB-A keyboard or mouse receiver closer to your usual seating position; it can make the receiver easier to reach without moving the computer.
- For a USB 2.0 webcam whose built-in lead falls short of a monitor or desk mount, use the cable to reach the computer; a community discussion describes using short extensions with a Logitech webcam without noticing a picture-quality change.
- If a USB-A printer is positioned farther from the computer, use the extension to route its existing cable more neatly or keep the computer in a less accessible spot; it adds reach without changing the printer setup.
- When a USB-A camera or other low-demand USB 2.0 peripheral needs a little more reach at a desk, use the extension between its cable and the computer; check that the device uses USB 2.0, since this cable is not a substitute for a USB 3.x connection.
