Question 2

I note that it lists ONLY Intel processors -  a little unusual for a product of any type.  Since they leave out AMD processors completely, does this product WORK with AMD processors?

I have an Intel processor so I cannot verify whether it will work with an AMD.  It looks like the processors specified are only for the most cpu intensive work.  I would try to verify with Pinnacle/Avid customer support what it is you want to do with this and whether your processor is capable of it.

Question 3

I need to transfer digital video from a Sony handycam that uses digital mini cassettes.  The transfer from my handycam is via firewire, but I want to transfer the video to my laptop which does not have a firewire receptacle.  Can this device allow me to transfer digital video from Sony handycam firewire to a USB plug in my laptop?

Yes. I have a firewire port on my desktop but chose to capture my videos through this Pinnacle device because the software lets you capture the video in a compressed format. I just plugged the firewire cable from my camera to the Pinnacle box and then connected the Pinnacle box to my computer via USB.

Compared side by side, the video looked the same to me. The box send the information through the attached USB cable just fine.

Can this be used to record something like a Super Nintendo?

Yes it can - as long as you have the correct RCA or Svideo connection setup, it should do fine.. Keep in mind that you will need substantial Disk Space to record for extended periods of time, depending on the source format of course - if its RCA its likely SD 720x480.

Windows 8 compatible?

The Pinnacle Studio MovieBox HD has Windows 7 and below as requirements on the box.  The box came with V14 and there is an upgrade to Version 15.  One may want to go to Pinnacle support to see if V15 is Windows 8 capable.

Question 6

My camera has Firwire 4 pin. Will I need to order an adapter also?  Will that still work?

It has a standard 1394 (FireWire) port as well as composite video, S-video and stereo audio inputs.

You will most likely need a 4 to 6 pin adapter for the FireWire port.

Question 7

What is the latency of this device? Is there a noticeable delay to the video input and what appears on the computer screen? I would like to use this to enable me to play a console game (NES, Sega Genesis, etc) on my computer.

I do not have the exact value for latency, but what i can tell you is  that my kid is playing the xbox game 360 using the preview Window with in import section inside studio )

So not noticeable delay .

I just purchased this.  Newegg's description says int includes "Pinnacle Studio HD Ultimate".  However the CD I have only says "Pinnacle Studio HD."  Did I not get the "Ultimate" version of the software?  What is also odd is the install instructions say "Studio v14."

Just the USB cable. It comes with a pinnacle movie making software that has worked really well.

Can this device import audio cassette tapes?

This device MAY (or may not) need video to accompany any audio that is fed into its audio inputs to actually create an audio stream.  However, most computers have audio inputs for their sound cards or chipsets. For recording audio into your computer from an audio cassette deck, a simple, common patch cord with L-R RCA plug arrangement on one end and a stereo mini (1/8") plug on the other can be connected from your L-R audio outputs on the deck to the LINE level mini jack input on your computer.  Your OS may include basic software for recording analog audio going into your LINE input.  Otherwise, there are many inexpensive programs to choose from for facilitating making audio files from audio cassettes, some of which may be offered by Pinnacle.
