The Pioneer DVR-112D DVD/CD Writer supports 18x write speed on DVD-R/+R media, and 10x speed on DVD-R/+R dual/double layer media. This EIDE/ATAPI-interface drive features a 2 MB buffer; Quiet Drive Technology, which reduces the noise level of audio and video playback, and increases write quality by adjusting write speed according to media type; buffer under-run protection, to ensure that you're burning usable media, not coasters.
Pioneer's Liquid Crystal Tilt/Blur Compensator adjusts automatically for play and recording on warped disc surfaces. In dual-layer format, a single DVD will hold 8.5 GB of data.
You'll have the flexibility to choose the right media type for your project, ensure compatibility with your playback unit, and the tools to play and store all your media, easily.
Pros: None.
Cons: I purchased three of this model to use in my latest Duplicator built with an Acard 2030T Controller and an Asus E616A3 DVD Rom Drive, both updated with the latest firmware back in April of 2007 and this is August of 2007 and two of the units won't write CD's and the third is doing a poor job. I sent all three units back to Pioneer and they tell me it will take them two to three weeks to either repair or replace the units. I'm going back to Plextor.
Overall Review: Never going back to Pioneer.
Pros:
This my 2nd one of this same model, mainly so I can copy directly drive to drive.
This will be my 3rd Pioneer DVD burner. My 1999 model has problems recognizing disks. My 2002 has a few read problems. This model I've had 1 or 2 coasters. I backup all my movies & watch alot of DVD's on my computer, some neglected rentals. I burn 100"s of DVD's, data & video a year. The only coasters (<6) have been when using store brand media.
Cons: Normally pricier than most others. But then again my 1999 one is still in use.
Overall Review: I've tried a couple other brands because of the price, but both were useless within a year.
Pros: Worked out of the box
Cons: After a few months it would start taking a long time to mount CDs and sometimes fails to mount them. Numerous failed burns or burns with corrupted data.
Pros: for burning games it is the best burn nice a clean no problems what so ever
Cons: should have bought a black one
Pros: Works
Cons: Sync up time when you put a disk in - 12-13 seconds! I've seen older drives do better. I too would prefer two LEDs.
Overall Review: I was hesitant to buy it - it came recommended and not at the same time - this site doesn't favor it. A couple of each - CDRs, DVD5 and DVD+R-DLs and no coasters. It works! Haven't tried DVD-RW, but I know the D model doesn't support it.
Pros: A little quieter and faster then the DVR-108 it replaced.
Cons: Does not burn CDs! It would seem like I'm not alone in this department. This one is going back!
Pros: Burns fast!
Cons: Mine began to cut out almost right away, when I tried to burn a CD-R. At first I thought it was the software, but then I reailzed the burner was at fault.

Pros: Has the Pioneer brand name on it, which in the past was a sign of exceptional quality and dependability.
Cons: The Pioneer 112 series of drives is fast becoming the most problematic disc drive I've ever purchased. The unit I received can't reliably read any CDs or DVDs I have, it has thus far failed to write a single CD or DVD, and has made (expensive) coasters out of two dual-layer discs so far. As if that weren't bad enough, this unit just stops responding to the eject button once it fails to read or write a disc-- you have to completely power down the system to recover. I'm using Nero 6, which is a bit dated, but worked perfectly with a Pioneer 109 drive that I replaced with this one.
Overall Review: This drive wasn't DOA but it may as well have been. It can't read discs, it can't write discs, and it hangs at the first sign of trouble. I checked for a firmware update, but to my surprise the latest firmware for the 112 drive refuses to install because it's an OEM drive (cripes!). If this is any indicator of what to expect going forward I'll be looking for a more reliable manufacturer. Soon. This is truly disappointing.
