Are these speakers stand alone or do they have to be added to an existing sound system?

Very effective, nice-sounding center speaker.  Matches my front Pioneers quite well, I suppose you would have to listen-compare with other brands of front speakers to see how effective it is.  It is a stand-alone, attaches directly to your receiver center speaker outlet.

It is a little less than 20 inch wide and a little more than 8 inch high.  And it sounds really good.

Has anyone bought 2 of these and used them as left/right speakers for a small room stereo set up?  If so, is the sound good?

I purchased 3 for use as LCR, no rear surround. Perfect for the front channel in my bedroom with a Panasonic Plasma TV. Mostly used for watching TV (Verizon FIOS, Dolby Digital.) Very good dialog from the center, which was important for my wife. On the occasions where I listened to music from a hi-resolution digital music player in the bedroom, I thought the sound in stereo was very good. FYI I am a long time builder of DIY loudspeakers and use my own designs in our living room and in our library. I could have built my own for the bedroom but at the price for the Pioneers I said "why not?" They handle the amplifier power I threw at them very well, a 5-channel B&K power amp with 100 watts per channel controlled by a B&K Ref30 pre-amp. They sound very nice with that amount of available power. Andrew Jones has done a very good job with these and I do recall on a audio forum that he actually said running them vertically, as L & R stereo channels would be very nice. They are. Hope this helps.
