Pros: Produced great DVD's from the first try. Have not had a bad burn and I burn alot!! This truly is a quality product at a price you can't afford to pass-up.

Cons: Can't seem to find any fault. It installed quickly and keeps on producing.

Pros: The Plextor PX-800A is the best of 4 burners I tried in my dream machine I just built. Sony, Liteon were OK but Plextor is solid. Highly reccomened

Overall Review: Asus came in second. I have chosen both for my machine. Newegg offers great service too.

Pros: The late version of Roxio software, the $30 rebate, and the fact that the drive works. The drive is black and the alternate face plate is white instead of vice versa.

Cons: Way, way too much noise when spinning. It reduces enjoyment of CD and DVD performances substantially.

Overall Review: Note that this drive does not accept firmware updates as older plextor drives did. (That means no tuning to new dvd/cd media releases.) The noise is mechanical and I can find no way to dampen it. My case is a Lian Li so I don't think that is the problem.

Pros: Great deal for anyone. Started burning right out of the box. Easy installation. Great for photo DVD back-ups.

Cons: None noted. Hard to mess this one up.

Pros: Install instructions were okay. Has generally worked okay. Burned lots of movie DVDs which have been okay on speed and all worked fine (no data errors). Recognized properly and automatically by built-in drivers of most of my media apps (e.g. iTunes).

Cons: Several audio CDs came out badly - using software, files, etc. that had been okay with my old Sony drive. Audio CDs better when I turned the write speed down and switched media. Roxio software is only trial versions - bummer. Much more noisy than older units (e.g. while watching movies) and efforts to correct this have failed.

Pros: The drive seems to work well in everything I try so I am confident that it will continue to do so. It made a few coasters but they all do occasionally and it may be because I'm using inexpensive HP disks. It handled some bad disks well and I was able to recover songs that other drives could not. A major plus. I can now convert my mp3's so I can listen to the music on car cd player. Some people told me such conversions don't sound well but they sound great to me.

Cons: I don't understand how they can put the word EASY in Roxio's title of it software. It's capable but confusing to use until I practiced with it awhile. I loaded it on one of my computers (my 2 computer home network) and it had problems installing so I tried it on the other. It installed but the computer boots up SO SLOWLY and is a little erratic.

Overall Review: Two things. Newegg rocks. I received the drive in a few days well packaged as usual. But the rebate took eight weeks to arrive.

Cons: Quite loud operation; the 1st CD was a coaster; Lite-on beat it quite nicely in nearly all benchmarks; although "retail" no audio cable included.

Overall Review: I see absolutely no reason why I would purchase this item again, given what I know about it now. Back to the true & trusted Lite-on and even NEC. Disappointing experience, especially given Plextor alleged reputation in the indutry. Plextor had one shot at my pocket and blew it.

Pros: Great replacement for my old lite on burner. No coasters created. Burns my dvd movies with no problems.
