Is this bulk packaging or retail box?

This is a bulk package.  There is no software of mounting hardware included with this DVD.

BTW, I was looking for a blue LED light to match the rest of my computer, however, the LED on this drive was green.  I was able to pull the LED out of my previous Plextor DVD drive and install it in this drive.

Question 2

I have a dell computer that has xp on it and internal cd needs to be replaced and plan on installing a win 7 ultimate  operating system on it once drive is replaced.
would this drive be compatible with that scenario? or suggestions for correct drive to install?

It depends on what model Dell computer you have. This drive has a SATA connector for data and power. Your computer would need this type of jack/connector to work.

If you can post the Dell model type or even the service tag number, I or someone can give you a more definitive answer.

Question 3

Does the tray extend out far enough that the CD/DVD can be removed straight up?  I need writers for robot writer/printer.  The Asus' tray does not extend out far enough.

No. There is a small overlap, about 1/8".

Perhaps you need a cleverer robot.

Question 4

Is this drive compatible with PlexUTILITIES?  I think that's what it is called.
Maybe the software is called PlexTools or maybe it has a new name.  In
any case, it is the Plextor software that you use to create audio CDs and also to
check error rates on audio CDs.  Is this software compatible with this drive?
Is it still a free download off the Plextor site?  Love Plextools.  Use it all the time on my old IDE Plextor drive which is maybe 10 years old.

This is not completely compatible with usage of the PlexTools software....the unit will be detected and will show up and the basic and detailed info regarding the unit will be available in it but the other "tools" will not be usable in the suite of tools. The PlexTools software is still a free download... that being said, the unit has not given me any issues at all and has functioned perfectly .  I use ImgBurn for my dvd/cd needs and they have the tools there that will do the same as a few of the tools in the Plextor software.  The Unit?.....I have been able to count on it.

Question 5

What does the term "Duplication Grade" imply?  Does it mean it's not really a top-of-the-line Plextor?

Any info/insight greatly appreciated!

I found absolutely no information on the manufacturer's web site explaining what "duplication grade" meant. And there have been so many buyouts recently that the old quality brand names might mean very little. But after doing post mortems on two brand name drives that failed for me recently, which found extremely cheap construction that was bound to fail (and did), I figured the only way to get better quality was to spend a little more. 
So I bought the "duplication grade" as a blind shot in the dark. Could they be just marking up the same stuff and slapping a buzzword label on it? Sure they could. I'll know in a year or two. In the meantime, all I can tell for certain is the unit worked fine out of the box.

Question 7

Looking for a replacement drive that supports CD+G. I have a PX-760-A that is 8 years old and have burned close to a thousand karaoke disks.  Does this support CD+G format?

Hi, You may be able to get info on that question from their website listed in the Newegg specs for that item. I did not see that format listed there.  You could even write to someone at that website and perhaps get an answer.

I don't use such a format so I can't tell you much more than that. If memory serves, the price, as with most of those, was not very high, and even a return could be possible if it didn't work out as planned.

Does this machine make copies  like a duplicator does?
Do you attach it to a computer?

Yes it does usually get installed into one of the front bays on your computer tower.  I have this for a new tower that I built...in other words it is the optical drive in it, like nearly all computers have.  That being said it is a simple SATA connection and the power , of course.  It does it's job fine... I copy, burn many things with it.  Hope this may help you, good luck ask anyother questions you have if needed.

I can only guess - but these are standard sizes and 'should' fit - only the manufacturer of your duplicator tower would know for sure.
