PNY Optima 2GB DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory Model MD2048SD2-667

Pros: 2 GBs of RAM in one stick; easy install, works great, arrived quickly. Fair price.

Cons: Plastic packaging was hard to open :)

Overall Review: Make sure your system can recognize all the RAM you are planning to hook it up with: some OS/chipset combination don't support more than 3-3,5 GBs, so if you have enough slots (say, 4) - I'd go with cheaper 1 GB sticks sets.

Pros: Heat spreader is sweet. Bought two sticks (4gb total). Both worked out of the box. Mobo detected the right speed, and have had no system problems.

Cons: It wasn't free?

Overall Review: Like I said, I bought 2 of these. Both worked. That's a 100% success rate (!!!).

Pros: Plug it in and forget about it. Works fine.

Pros: Bought 3 sticks for an NAS. They worked excellently. Due to funds, had to wait on the fourth stick. Did not see any problems with the 3 sticks and everything is stable.

Cons: Purchased the fourth stick approximately 1 month after the first 3. Not good. Physical configuration is different - radically so. But part number is the same as the other 3. No matter what slot the 4th stick is inserted in, it registers a very strange number for memory. It also reduces my available memory to 4GB. I updated my BIOS but no change. I do not know what is the deal, but I am RMA'ing the 4th stick to PNY. Have to wonder about quality control.

Overall Review: I know that no manufacturer quality checks 100% of product out the door. But, if this is a batch/lot problem it ought to show up at PNY.

Pros: Installed simple enough. A good, solid, and durably compact piece of hardware.

Cons: When I first installed it it kept wanting to pop out of place when I would sit up my tower. I didn't want to apply too much pressure to it so It wouldn't snap. But as it turns out it's a pretty solid little piece of ram that wont break or snap or even think about snapping.
