So I'm trying to find a reasonable price graphics card to improve my pc and its graphics tower gaming; however, it's a mini tower so I need to be careful what to buy. If I were to buy this card it won't be a mega size card specifically for mid to large towers, right? It'll be for any size tower, including mini towers?

Hi Zacchary,

If by 'mini tower' you mean it is neither as tall, nor as deep, front to back, as a 'mid to large' tower, but it IS nearly as wide, you will be fine, as long as it in new enough to have a pci-e slot for the video card (as opposed to just pci in very old towers).

However, if by mini tower, you mean one that is more like 4.5 inches side to side (standing on edge), or 4.5 inches high (if laying flat on the desk), then you may need a 'half height video card.

Will this card (VCG84512D3SXPB)work with Windows XP ?

My desktop computer has Windows XP installed & this brd. DID NOT work for me.While it displayed text (letters & numerals) ok,graphics was another story & was horribly distorted & not useable.
I suspect the PNY ckt. brd. was defective from stock & returned it for a refund.

Will this fit in a Dell slim desktop??

I bought 2 of these cards and placed them into Dell OptiPlex 745 Slimline computers. My video cards came with a pair of "short" mounting brackets that allowed the VGA connector to be accessible in an adjacent slot. Very helpful, given both PCs operate dual monitors.

will this work in a Intel dg35ec motherboard? just upgraded it to Windows 7 and getting blue screen /reboots. Seems to be related to the built in video. Intel knows of the video problem, but decided to not write a new driver. I'm hopping this is an inexpensive work around.

Each copy of Windows is designed to work in one and only one computer build.  If your Windows thinks it's in a new build, it will self-destruct (BSOD).  Call Microsoft tech support, explain what you did [and after a great deal of hassle with some unintelligible guy in Bangalore], they'll issue a new license.

I think this is a question for the manufacturer - I would go to their Website and ask. I did not get it for audio support and I am not using it that way. Sorry.

I am upgrading a Dell Precision 690 workstation that I am upgrading from XP Pro over to Win7 Pro.  A new Win7 application requires a very high res 1080P interface.  I have a 32" display that has the HDMI interface.  My existing video was standard DVI and I would like to get a full height video card with the HDMI interface that will operate with the 690 and Win7.  Dell has recommended the NVIDIA chipset in the past.  Will the PNY VCG84512D3SXPB GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card be a good choice?  The application is a AMAYA robotics driver.

Hi Ken. I couldn't find anything about the application your trying to use. However, This card is pretty low powered considering today standards. If the program needs to render any 3D models in real time, then your going to have a bad time. I have this card in my Ubuntu server and it seems to be doing just fine. Needing an HDMI output was the only reason i purchased this card.
