As long as the memory specifications match it will work.In particular the pin format, the speed numbers like 12800 and the form factor ddr3. What I did was look up my laptop on google to find what type of ram it had them I just matched up all those numbers.  It doesn't matter if it is for mac or MS.

Question 2

I'm a newbie
I just wanted to confirm that this memory will work with a Toshiba Satellite C55-A5300.  It comes with 4MB of ram with an empty RAM slot.  It's capable of 16MB total between the two slots.  Does it make sense to buy one 8MB RAM and keep the original 4MB for a total of 12MB?
I didn't want to buy two 8MB ram sticks but was willing to buy more than a single 4MB ram stick.

This will work with the Toshiba Satellite C55-A5300, however the 4GB module that comes with the system is 1333MHz but this module runs up to 1600MHz so if you install this one with the one that came with the laptop the system will use the extra 8GB of memory (total 12GB) but will run at 1333MHz and will not benefit of the extra speed of this module (which should be supported by your system). So you should either get an 8GB module that runs @1333MHz because it will be cheaper than this one and have total 12GB @1333MHz or you can remove the one that came with the laptop and install this one only, this way you will have 8GB of memory @1600MHz. Your choice, but I'd go with 8GB @1600MHz since 8GB is usually more than enough.

can this ram is used for sony vaio  e-series vpceh models?

i don't know for sure, but if it accepts DDR3 then it should work. i think the computer adjusts speed/timing if it doesn't match, so it could be "slower." it works in my Samsung ATIV Book 8, which has a different brand of 8GB DDR3 that can't be removed. i have 16GB now. try and see!
