Is this soundbar compatible with any new flat screen tv?

Yes, it should be. As long as your TV has an optical sound output (most new flat screens should) you can plug it directly into this. It also has a simple audio input, but I would recommend using the optical connection for the best sound.

is this a passive unit and is it a plug in or wired ?

The power cord and optical cables plug into the surround bar.  I swap the optical input between my xbox and cable boxes manually.  This sound bar didn't come with a remote  but I used my universal to set it up and it works fine.  This is an active sound bar..so no seperate AV receiver is needed.

Is this product 115V only or can it work on 240/220 V?

The speaker uses a standard external AC to DC converter so it should be easy to get a generic supply from a local electronics store that supports your current and plug configuration. I would not recommend the Polk though. The digital input has intermittently stopped working and the sound is inferior to a "no-name" brand I also got at NewEgg for considerably less money.

Honestly I'm not sure probably probably around 5 W if I recall but it stopped working after about three weeks I would avoid it

I connected the bar to my cable box but I don't get any sound from it. What can I do or what could be the problem?

Connecting the sound bar to your TV's small 3.5 mm headphone output will deliver decent quality sound, however the optical digital output is much better if the TV has one.  The cable box may also need to have the optical digital output enabled, often these are disabled by default.

Does this unit have hdmi, optical, and rca inputs also hdmi outputs?

There is no HDMI output.  I used the optical mini jack that came with it.  I wouldn't buy this again as the the sound is bad when you turn it up.  It has a cracking noise when turned up.  Try to find something with a sub better.

Was able to program the tv remote with the soundbar,but the problem is that I can only turn the volume up,not down. What can I do?

I have a Harmony 880 and it works perfectly, up or down. Otherwise, suggest using the remote that came with the sound bar.
