Pros: Absolutely silent - cannot hear this card run. I am not into gaming. The sixty year old building I use has barely adequate power, which is the reason I chose the 6790. I needed a faster card, but one that draws less power. This card appears to draw less power than the 9800GTX+ that I had been using. AMD has done an outstanding job with this chipset. Summary: quieter, uses less power and less expensive than the competition. Unless problems develop later, I will likely begin moving exclusively to AMD chipset video cards over the next year or two.
Cons: This is more of a comment than a Con. Had some problems with PowerColor's website when I registered for the rebate. A warning flashed on my screen which said ALERT, TROJAN HORSE. I e-mailed Hugo about the problem. Hugo got back to me IMMEDIATELY. We exchanged a couple more e-mails, but Hugo was not much help. I think he didn't believe me. I went back to PowerColor's website a few days later and was able to successfully complete my registration without problems of any kind.
Overall Review: I keep five computers running, with close to 100% of all parts for original build and maintainence purchased from NewEgg. Three of the computers run all day, everyday. The other two run part time. On the ones that run full time, hard drives and video cards are usually pulled and replaced about every two years. The other two machines will generally run about four years before major rebuild. I had some problems with ATI chipset cards about eight or nine years back, so have used chipset video cards from the other major manufacturer exclusively the past few years. Compared with the 550ti, this 6790 AMD chipset card is a much better investment.
