This controller support sata boot drive?

Yes, it will support a boot drive.  I have a computer with a Gigabyte mobo that only has a 3.0 Gb/s controller in it, so I used the Rocket to run both a SATA III SSD and a SATA III terabyte hard drive.  The computer boots off of the SSD with no problem.

Does this card working with microsoft server 2016?

while it does support server2012 I don't know if it will work with 2016 but the Startech PEXSAT32 does and I use it as well.

Does it have a driver for vmware esxi 5.5 that I can insert in the ISO installer of esxi?  thanks!

This item has worked perfectly!! Saved my Computer!! Is there a recommendation for something better but not quite pricey? I do notice that the speed has slowed down drastically at startup. The bootup time is lengthened by the initializing phase of the LSI card.  Once it is booted, it helps to put the computer into "sleep" mode instead of shutting it off all the way to avoid having to initialize the card on bootup.  I have this card with 4xSSDs and after a wake-up the computer is able to be interacted with in less than 5 seconds.
