Where is the Quality
Pros: Nice layout.
Cons: First board would not POST. RMA'd to manufacturer. Second board worked for a week before the optical drive disappeared in the computer devices. Tried IDE and SATA drives. NADA
Overall Review: The drives showed in the BIOS, and the drive was picked up by software when I uninstalled it, both SATA and IDE versions. When I tried to update driver from the internet, I was advised I had the correct driver installed. First time to see this in 20 years. Emailed ASROCK America, but no response.
TEW-812DRU failing
Pros: When it worked, I was impressed. My Netflix connection is at HD levels all the time, and loaded almost instantly. Good speeds on my home wired network, and even gave me satisfactory WI-FI on my Samsung Note 3. Unfortunately not very good range over the previous router I was using.
Cons: What to say. If I knew why the internet connection just drops out arbitrarily, I would/could troubleshoot it. I do not find out until I go to a site, and get the page can't display. Check in my control panel and see the dreaded red X. Two calls to TrendNet, and other than telling me to reset the router, I was told to return it.
Overall Review: I appreciate the ability to connect instantly with TrendNet technical. Very refreshing.
Not compatible
Pros: Compact, attractive, lots of connections.
Cons: Cables seemed stiff, and would seem to be a hassle if you had the unit on your desktop. The connectors were a hassle to get on, as there was little room between for each workstation connector.
Overall Review: After several months of trying to get a replacement for my old PS/2 KVM, and be able to use my more updated motherboards, I finally settled on this one. I did read that IOGEAR did not guarantee that all mice, keyboards would be supported. I have Microsoft wired periphals, and this unit would not recognize either of them. The video thruput was excellent, and I received power through to the keyboard, but could not use it to enter my workstation. The mouse light came on, but there was no response to any movement. Of course, this happened over the weekend, and on a Holiday Monday, so getting through to the manufacturer did not happen. The unit has been RMA'ed.
Pros: Nice, compact design. Silent.
Cons: Has a small problem remaining connected with Mini HDMI cable. Loses signal to monitor with slightest movement of cable. Using Nippon Labs cables.
Overall Review: Not real sure why the design uses Mini HDMI. There is plenty of room for a full size fitting, and I have never had any problem with any of the full size HDMI fittings.
Pros: Nice, quiet, compact board. Running a sumsung 27" monitor in HDMI, 8Gb Kingston memory, Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit. Seems to function just like you would expect at 1.6Ghz.
Cons: I know I can't stop progress, but when the industry gave up on P/S2 and went to USB I didn't like it but WTH. Now, on some of the newer boards, such as this one, my Microsoft kb/mouse does not seem to work in the USB slots where you would normally put them. What's up with that?
Pros: It was shipped quickly, undamaged physically, and seems to be a fair price.
Cons: After reading, rereading, and then checking agan, I can find no reference that I would need any special tray to install this drive. So far, it's electronic characteristics are unknown to me.
