Pros: This dock is a great match for EVO 840 SSD's. 400+ for writes and over 500 reads, basically full speed with no bottleneck. Get this model over USB 3 if you have Thunderbolt ports and need the performance.

Cons: Not cheap, and it doesn't include cables - if you just want basic drive access, this probably isn't for you. No surprise as its performance oriented, and worth the cost if you need it.

Overall Review: I recommend spending time reading up on this product before making the plunge. There are a lot of comments about problems with it online, but most in my experience boil down to misconception. Thunderbolt doesn't work like USB or even esata in many ways. The most obvious is power: Without a Thunderbolt cable, the unit will not power on. It’s not broken! I thought mine was DOA right out of the box when I first got it. My mistake: thunderbolt devices won't power on unless the cable is attached to the device and system, and will shut off on their own if it is removed. Thunderbolt cables can be finicky: I have several that simply didn't cooperate with this product. If it isn't detecting, try cleaning the cable connectors - sounds ridiculous, but it works. TB cables seem highly sensitive to dirt/debris.
