Solid 4k monitor

ViewSonic 28" LCD Monitor 5 ms HDMI, DisplayPort VX2880ml
ViewSonic 28" LCD Monitor 5 ms HDMI, DisplayPort VX2880ml

Pros: 4k gaming with very little to no ghosting. I mainly wanted this for 4k video editing to finally be able to see my videos at their full resolution. For that it is awesome. I fired up BL2 pre-sequel to see how gaming would be. I set the game to native monitor refresh rate (30) and applied anisotropic filtering to the max and everything was very smooth. It works great for me and will become a great second monitor once 4k 60 panels are more available/cheaper

Cons: Tends to need to resynch display after waking up from sleep. I believe this is more of a system issue and the monitor. I have not fully calibrated it but it looks very blue. But all tv's and monitors are shipped like that.

Overall Review: This will work for gaming and productivity. Would 60 hertz be better? Yes. Do you want to pay for that right now? I didn't and this is working just fine for me.

4k Video Editing

EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2974-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, Silent Cooling Graphics Card
EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2974-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, Silent Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: I did a lot of research about what video card to get for Premiere Pro CC for use with my Red Scarlet Camera and my 4k workflow. This card can playback 4k Red Raw files with affects applied at 1/2 resolution in real time. It will render a full resolution preview very quickly for image checks. I have 2 running my system and they will render to final 4k in h264 in slightly less than real time. 11 minute clip with 4 affects and 4k After Effects composites is rendered in about 14 minutes single pass work 30 minutes 2 pass encoding. 2 cards are about half the price of Titans and slightly more expensive than a single GTX980 so the math was simple. It also handles 4k gaming with everything high no problem.

Cons: none

Overall Review: These cards are virtually silent. Both of them. If your card is loud send it back. I did have to upgrade my PSU to 1200 watts but I am running a ton of HHDs and have a dual socket board.

Just get it

AMD Opteron 6128 Magny-Cours 2.0 GHz 8 x 512KB L2 Cache 12MB L3 Cache Socket G34 115W OS6128WKT8EGOWOF Server Processor
AMD Opteron 6128 Magny-Cours 2.0 GHz 8 x 512KB L2 Cache 12MB L3 Cache Socket G34 115W OS6128WKT8EGOWOF Server Processor

Pros: You're looking at this processor because you are using highly multithreaded applications. This Processor will handle all of them. I created it because I didn't want to pay $5k for a certain computer from a certain fruit company. This is every bit of what that computer would be. With ability to run 1 or 2 CPU's you have the ability to expand to your needs.

Cons: None if used in the right application. If you need something to just play games with get a higher clocked intel cpu. This will pay them just fine but you might not get the ultra high FPU that gamers want.

Overall Review: I could not find very much info on this cpu for the desktop workstation environment. If you are looking for an economical alternative to intel them just get this. It's one of the most stable systems I have ever built. It flies through video encoding (HD footage from canon 7d with no conversion) and will play all the games you want. I run anything I want as much as I want with no problems.

Pros: Super easy. Less than 5 min to calibrate

Cons: None that I can see.

Overall Review: For a digital work flow this is as important as any lens, or tablet input. Just get it and save yourself a huge headache!
